25th July 2007 - Last night on television Article shortened to mention Westlife part Some people accuse Piers Morgan of being a bit shallow. Yet, in last night’s You Can’t Fire Me I’m Famous (BBC1) he bravely tackled one of the biggest news stories of the year: the sacking and subsequent reinstatement of Louis Walsh as a judge on The X Factor. Morgan’s investigation, it turned out, was nothing if not thorough. He spoke to most of the people involved in the controversy. He sought the insights of a wide range of commentators on celebrity culture. Above all, he talked at length to Walsh himself – and explored the man’s biography in commendable detail. Before long, the band was so successful that Simon Cowell had begun returning his calls. When Walsh concocted Westlife, he asked for Cowell’s advice – and was immediately instructed to change four of the members. But, as he proudly pointed out, “I only changed three.” (In a cunning ruse, the other one had his hair dyed blond.) Source:Telegraph |
