Pop king Louis brings "X Factor" to Meadowhall

POP king Louis Walsh will bring the X Factor to Xmas when he turns on the Christmas lights at Meadowhall.
Louis, who has scored 28 number one hits while managing bands including Boyzone, Westlife and Girls Aloud, will kick-start the Christmas celebrations along with an as-yet unannounced X Factor act on Friday November 10.
It comes two years after fellow X Factor judge Simon Cowell turned on the centre's festive lights.
The family event will begin at 3.45pm in the Oasis Food Court with performances from a school choir and band from Eckington School.
The Tree of Light in The Oasis will be turned on by guests from Rotherham Theatre's Christmas pantomime Peter Pan.
Sheffield Theatres performers will pop in with a preview from two of their Christmas productions - Fiddler on the Roof and their Christmas pantomime, Sleeping Beauty.
Santa will join the event by satellite from Lapland and children in the audience can interact with him and track his journey to Meadowhall.
The event will also mark the official opening of Santa's Showtime, a brand new theatre show, held in an igloo at the back of The Oasis.
Louis will then turn on the lights at 6pm in the Main Dome.
Georgina Thompson, Meadowhall's Marketing Manager, said: "We are delighted to be welcoming Louis Walsh and the X Factor hopefuls to the centre and I am sure they will receive a really warm welcome from everyone in Sheffield and have a great night.
"The annual Christmas lights switch on is one of the highlights of the centre's events calendar and this year we have prepared a truly magical night."
