Shayne about the single IT’S a bit soon for SHAYNE WARD to order a flash BMW — his latest single Stand By Me has only managed to limp into the midweek charts at No17. Although there are still four more days for the X Factor winner’s third single to notch up a few more sales, it’s looking unlikely that he will make the top ten — and anything outside the top five is considered a chart disaster. Yet that didn’t stop Shayne trying out the posh motor at a showroom in Mayfair, West London — even though he hasn’t even passed his driving test yet. LOUIS WALSH has been raving about his pop protégé since his victory in last year’s ITV1 talent series. But as Shayne is beginning to find out, you need more than good looks and a decent voice to stay at the top of the charts. A source said: “Shayne’s midweek sales are poor and there is no hiding from it. “With the amount of publicity that X Factor generated and all the promotion behind him, he should be in the top three with every release. “It wasn’t the best idea to cover a classic like Ben E King’s Stand By Me unless you re-invent the song. “WILL YOUNG managed it with The Doors’ Relight My Fire.” Shayne needs to buck up his ideas if he wants to last longer than 2004 X Factor winner STEVE BROOKSTEIN. Perhaps he should take a tip from JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE who is in town later this week to showcase his new material. I reckon it would serve Shayne well to go and see how the professionals do it. source: The Sun online |
