PS I sold my apartment . . . at long last

Cecelia Ahern has sold her property after having it on the market since last year

CHIC-LIT writer Cecelia Ahern has finally managed to sell her north-Dublin penthouse by knocking €25,000 off the price after months of desperately trying to attract a buyer.

Amid fears of a downturn in the property market, the best-selling author, who has long proved her talent for shifting millions of her books, was faced with the difficult task of finding a taker for her luxury Santry home, which had been on the market since last year.

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern’s youngest daughter and author of romantic novels, including PS I Love You and If You Could See Me Now, had been inches from selling her luxury penthouse apartment at Temple Gardens in Santry, Dublin 9, for months but finally secured a sale in recent days.

Despite having to splash out on a quick makeover — and slashing the price of the apartment from €550,000 to €495,000 — the novelist is said to be delighted to be rid of the three-bed apartment which she shared with her long-term boyfriend David Keoghan.

Prior to its sale, the estate agent dealing with the property revealed that many viewers found the rooms small, compared to other penthouses in the Temple Gardens’ development.

The 25-year-old was said to be extra eager to sell the property nearing the birth of her twin nephews Rocco and Jay, who made an unexpected early arrival last Thursday.

Ahern is thought to have wanted to be closer to them and her older sister Georgina, and moved into her newly purchased €2m 5-bedroom mansion in Malahide before Christmas.

Her new home is in the exclusive 40-unit development at Abbott’s Hill, Mala-hide where basic prices for properties start at €1m.

This year is set to be multi-millionairess Cecelia’s best to date as the final touches are put to the film PS I Love You, marking her first adaptation form literature to the big screen.

Shot on location in Wicklow and New York, the film, which stars two time Oscar winner Hilary Swank and former Friends actress Lisa Kudrow, is expected to be released here at the end of this year and is already tipped to be international box-office gold.
