He may have turned his back on his own boy-band career, but Brian McFadden is set to support the reformed Boyzone in Belfast this May.

The former Westlife star, who sensationally quit the chart-topping pop band to go solo, has just been confirmed as the support act at the Odyssey Arena on Sunday, May 25 and Monday, May 26.

The Belfast dates will kick-off Boyzone's reunion tour, which they announced shortly after getting back together for Children In Need last November.

Dubliner McFadden, who is engaged to Australian popstar Delta Goodrem, has recently finished writing and recording his second album, produced by Stuart Crichton, in both Australia and the UK.

He has also chosen his fiancee's home continent to be the backdrop for the first video from the album.

While with Westlife, McFadden sold over 30m records and picked up 12 UK number ones. His debut solo album, Irish Son, produced the number one smash, Real To Me, as well as the top five singles, Irish Son and Almost Here.

Although his own pop career stalled in the UK, he has had success as a song-writer with his song, Demons, being featured in the US hit series Lost.

In addition he has written songs for artists such as Il Divo and Girls Aloud as well as the theme for the Commonwealth games. McFadden also co-wrote six of the 12 tracks on Delta Goodrem's latest album, Delta, which went to number one in the album charts in Australia.

At the age of 27, McFadden is now planning to embark on the next stage of his career and is hoping his support slot with Boyzone will help him do this.

Tickets for the shows are on sale now, priced £38 and £35.50.

Meanwhile, his former band Westlife are gearing up for their three dates at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, kicking-off on Monday, February 25.

BOYZONE ANNOUNCE BRIAN MCFADDEN AS SPECIAL GUEST

Boyzone have announced that Brian McFadden will be their special guest at their Sheffield Arena concerts on Thursday 19th & Saturday 20th June!

After an absence of over 3 years, Brian McFadden has recently finished writing and recording his second solo album which is due to have a UK summer release in 2008. Brian recorded the album, produced by Stuart Crichton, in both Australia and the UK, and has chosen Australia to be the backdrop for the first video from the album. He'll be returning to the UK ahead of rehearsals to support Boyzone on tour throughout May and June.

Brian was one fifth of one of the biggest boy bands in the world, selling 30 million records and picking up twelve UK number 1s during his time in Westlife. His debut solo album, 'Irish Son', produced the number 1 smash, 'Real To Me' and the top 5 singles, 'Irish Son' and 'Almost Here'.

Apart from his success as a recording artist McFadden can feel justifiably proud of his achievements as a songwriter. With solo records reaching Number 1 in UK, Ireland, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Holland, Belgium and Australia, he has also been critically recognised with his song 'Demons' being featured in the U.S. TV series 'Lost'. In addition, Brian has written songs for artists as diverse as Il Divo and Girls Aloud, as well as the Theme for the Commonwealth Games. Brian co-wrote six of the twelve tracks on Delta Goodrem's latest album 'Delta', released in Australia in October 2007 which recently debuted at no 1 in the album charts down under.

Now at the age of 27 and settled with his new fiancée Delta Goodrem, Brian is excited to embark on this next stage in his career. With all the hard won wisdom of a pop music veteran but none of the cynicism, his passion for music is undiminished and reinvigorated by his new collection of songs which he looks forward to playing live.

This special guest announcement all adds to the excitement that Boyzone will bring their first major UK tour in 7 years to Sheffield! Destined to be one of the ultimate events of next year's live calendar, it will see all five original members - Ronan Keating, Stephen Gately, Shane Lynch, Mikey Graham and Keith Duffy performing together again.

"We've been talking about getting back together for some time now. The Children In Need rehearsals just made us want to tour together again," Ronan Keating admits. "I can't wait to be back on the road and all the guys feel the same. Our live shows were always great fun but this time it will definitely be the best night out ever!"

Formed in 1994, Boyzone achieved the best-ever start to a UK singles career with 16 consecutive Top 5 hits. Having scored 6 UK Number 1 singles, plus 4 Number 1 albums their total album sales tally exceeds 15 million, making them one of the UK's best-selling bands.

Tickets for the Sheffield dates on Thursday 19th & Friday 20th June are now on sale, priced £32.50 (subject to booking fee). To book call the credit card hotline on 0114 256 56 56, book online at www.sheffieldarena.co.uk or in person at the venue.
