Concert in memory of doctor Donna to raise charity funds

Fund-raising night: Donna McCormick and her husband Greg Iredale

FRIENDS of a doctor who died from leukaemia have organised a fund-raising night in her memory.

Donna McCormick, 37, of Rastrick, died in January.

She was a clinical psychologist in Manchester and a clinical tutor at Lancaster University.

And on Friday the Leukaemia Research Fundraising Concert takes place at Hove Edge Bowling Club, Brighouse.

Janette Martin, of Huddersfield, attended Brighouse Girls' School with Donna and earlier this year ran a 10k race in Manchester for Leukaemia Research.

She said the concert would be a fun evening for all the family.

"The generosity of companies who have donated is unbelievable," she said.

Brighouse folk singer Roger Davies will perform at the free concert which also features an auction.

Prizes include Warner Leisure and Pontins holidays, a Sir Ian Botham signed tee-shirt and X-Factor merchandise signed by Simon Cowell, Leona Lewis and Westlife. Roger Davies has also given an acoustic guitar.

Huddersfield MP Barry Sheer-man will open the event at the club in Halifax Road at 7.30pm.
