THE year's barely begun and already a swag of Brisbane shows are sold out.

Crowds are clamouring to see non-conformist American rocker Pink (despite her anti-wool industry stance), '90s heroes The Red Hot Chili Peppers, cult classic Little Britain and guitar maestro Eric Clapton.

Fortunately for those slow on the ticket uptake, all are doing multiple shows and – with the exception of the Chili Peppers – still have seats available for their final performances.

Brisbane Entertainment Centre general manager Trish McNamara said the 2007 concert season featured a range from rock and dance to pop to alternative.

It all starts with Jack Black's musical ensemble Tenacious D tonight, followed by Walking With Dinosaurs, Crosby Stills and Nash, America, Il Divo, Supernova, John Mayer and Pink Floyd founder Roger Waters keeping the ball rolling.

Then there's Evanescence, Westlife, The Scissor Sisters, The Dave Matthews Band, The V Festival and punk rocker Sandi Thom.

Justin Timberlake, Meatloaf, Gwen Stefani, Bob Dylan, Christina Aguilera and Delta Goodrem also are planning trips to Australia this year – with local promoters battling for the bragging rights.

Ms McNamara said the days of Brisbane being bypassed in favour of Sydney and Melbourne were over.

"There's still a lot of activity happening at the moment, with promoters still looking at a lot of shows – so I think there still will be more to be announced," she said. "But I can honestly say there's not too much we miss out on now."

Ms McNamara said that in contrast to last year, when big names such as U2, Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Pearl Jam, Elton John and Billy Joel were crammed into two months – this year's big-name action would be more spread out.
