Tammi Campbell Missing since June 12, 1999 from Grove City, Ohio Classification: Endangered Missing -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vital Statistics Age at Time of Disappearance: 33 years old Height and Weight at Time of Disappearance: Distinguishing Characteristics: White female. Blonde hair. AKA: T.J. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Circumstances of Disappearance Tammi Campbell was reported missing by a family friend in June. Campbell, a single mother, left her son to sleep overnight at her friend's on June 12. Campbell was to visit another friend overnight then go to work the next day at CVS pharmacy. But Campbell never showed up for work the next morning, which is unusual. Tammi's friend became concerned about Tammi and reported her missing six days later on June 18. Campbell is described as a good and reliable mother. Campbell -- who originally is from Texas -- had been living in central Ohio or Covington, KY., for 12 years, including in Grove City for about a year. Campbell was adopted and her adoptive parents are dead. Campbell has no other family and the whereabouts of the boy's father is unknown. Campbell's car was found across the street from her apartment. Her keys, identification and wallet were found in the apartment, but there were no signs of foul play. Campbell's last known address was 3111 Southwest Boulevard. Tammi's friend went to Campbell's home a day after she last saw her to check on her and found Campbell's ex-boyfriend at the apartment. He told her that "Tammi was out somewhere doing drugs". The friend told police the ex-boyfriend had been staying with Campbell for several weeks and alleged that he was abusive to Campbell. Police did not find the ex-boyfriend's statements to be very credible. In January/February 2000, police searched the sprawling Franklin County landfill, for evidence. The landfill had 120 acres in 1997 when it won state approval to gradually expand by an additional 243 acres and create a trash mound as high as 160 feet. Police were checking it based on information from interviews conducted in the case. They stopped the search there March 2, but has declined to comment on what they found. Foul play is suspected. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Investigators If you have any information concerning this case, please contact: Grove City Police Department 614-277-1750 Source Information: North American Missing Persons Network Columbus Dispatch, The (OH) - February 2, 2000 http://www.doenetwork.org/ IP: ---------- |

Police find shirt, checking whether it belongs to woman missing since 1999 By Marie Rossiter Staff Writer Friday, October 24, 2008 Police said this morning, Friday, Oct. 24, that they found what appears to be a woman's blue shirt while searching on property in Morrow for clues about a woman missing since 1999 from Grove City, Ohio. Grove City police and Warren County sheriff's deputies searched on Wednesday on the Lake Road property owned by the family of Gary Robinson, 44, who police said was the boyfriend of Tammi "TJ" Campbell, a single mother who has been missing since June 12, 1999. "We found a blue shirt buried on the property," Sgt. Brian Davidson of Grove City's Detective Bureau said Friday. "It appears to be a woman's shirt, but we still have more to study. It was reported that she was wearing a blue shirt around the time she disappeared." Robinson, 44, used to live with his family in Morrow. He now is serving a four-year sentence in the Lebanon Correctional Institution for domestic violence after being convicted of biting off the finger of a relative. Robinson has been considered by police to be a "person of interest" since 1999 and "remains so to this day," Campbell said. New information and other evidence led police to search in for clues about the missing woman's case, which has been cold for years. "It's a matter of technology catching up," said Davidson when asked about the reason behind the renewed search and interest in Robinson. "We didn't have the DNA technology that we do now," he said. "We collected items nine years ago that we are re-examining in connection with this." Police visited Robinson in prison and collected a DNA sample from him, which is being tested. After reviewing all they had related to the case, Grove City police enlisted the help of the Warren County Sheriff's Office. Davidson said police also interviewed Robinson's family members, friends and other people who know him. "We've received tips and we've talked to people," he said. "Sometimes you get people who may remember something after the fact and are able to provide new information." What you can do Anyone with information regarding the disappearance of Tammi Campbell can call the Grove City Police Department at (614)277-1710, the Warren County Sheriff's office at (513) 695-1280 or CrimeStoppers at (513) 352-3040. http://www.oxfordpress.com/hp/content/oh/s...missingweb.html |

Man tried in '99 mystery He took body to landfill, witness says Wednesday, April 7, 2010 2:52 AM No one has seen or heard from Tammi "T.J." Campbell since June 1999, and now, even her son believes she is dead. James Campbell, now 23, told a Franklin County jury yesterday that his mother took him to a friend's house, kissed him goodbye and said, "I'll see you tomorrow." She never came back. Campbell's ex-boyfriend, Gary L. Robinson, 46, is accused of her murder, even though authorities have never found her body or any evidence of a struggle. Assistant County Prosecutors Scott Kirschman and Nathan Yohey said they intend to provide circumstantial evidence that shows Robinson killed Campbell. They said police found her jewelry buried in Robinson's backyard in Warren County. DNA from that jewelry led them to Robinson. A gold chain necklace with a diamond pendant was identified as hers in court yesterday. "I've never seen her take that necklace off," James Campbell testified. "It's been 11 years and I haven't talked to her. I know in my head and in my heart that she's not here." Grove City police spent hundreds of hours searching for Campbell, then 33. Robinson's ex-girlfriend, Sandra Gabbard of Covington, Ky., testified late yesterday that he told her he choked Campbell in her bedroom, wrapped her body in carpet and discarded it in a local landfill. "I told him I was going to call the police, and he said he didn't care because he said you guys would never find her," Gabbard said. In September 1999, she agreed to call Robinson while police listened in. Robinson didn't admit to the killing on the tape but said he wasn't worried about the police investigation. Robinson was indicted in May on charges of murder, tampering with evidence and receiving stolen property. His trial began Monday before Common Pleas Judge Richard A. Frye. Defense attorneys Sheryl K. Munson and Shawnda M. Behrens countered that prosecutors can't prove that a murder occurred. Under cross-examination, several witnesses pointed to the victim's drug abuse as a possible motive if a murder had occurred. Detectives found Campbell's car parked nearby and her purse and car keys in the apartment she shared with Robinson at 3111 Southwest Blvd. Robinson has been in the Lebanon Correctional Institution since 2008, when he was convicted in Warren County of domestic violence and felonious assault. The trial is expected to last until Friday. http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/local...ry.html?sid=101 |

http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/local...dy.html?sid=101 Killer sentenced; still no body Tammi Campbell disappeared in 1999 Friday, June 11, 2010 02:52 AM By Kathy Lynn Gray THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH Gary Robinson allegedly bragged he choked Tammi Campbell and dumped her body in a landfill.Yesterday, almost 11 years to the day that Tammi "T.J." Campbell disappeared, her killer was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison. Campbell's body was never found, but in April a jury convicted Gary L. Robinson, 46, of murder and tampering with evidence. In Franklin County Common Pleas Court yesterday, Robinson maintained his innocence. "I don't believe that a murder was proven," he said. "I don't believe a death was proven." Campbell, of Grove City, disappeared on June 12, 1999, after leaving her 12-year-old son, James, at the home of her friend Shannon Hager for the night. When she didn't return, Hager notified Grove City police. Campbell, who was 33, was living with Robinson at the time. His ex-girlfriend told police that Robinson had bragged that he'd choked Campbell and disposed of her body in the county landfill. Police searched through 5 million pounds of refuse at the landfill in 2000 but didn't find anything. Hager, who raised James after Campbell's disappearance, said in court yesterday that Campbell had been devoted to her son. She said they'll always have a void in their lives because Campbell's body wasn't found. After the sentencing, Grove City Police Capt. Steven R. Robinette said he's pleased that jurors found Robinson guilty. The department had reopened the case in 2008. Robinette said he hopes that Robinson will some day tell police where Campbell's body is. Judge Richard Frye also ordered Robinson to repay the Grove City police the $185,180 spent searching the landfill. Prosecuting a murder case without a body is unusual but not unheard of. In 2003, a Franklin County Common Pleas jury acquitted Darrell E. Walker of aggravated murder in the death of Earl Robinson, who police said was shot in 1997. A convicted drug dealer testified in court that he saw the killing, but Robinson's body was never found. |
