Jason Scott Adkins Above: Adkins, circa 1999 Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance Missing Since: January 18, 1999 from Huntington, Ohio Classification: Endangered Missing Date of Birth: April 1, 1975 Age: 28 years old Height and Weight: 5'9, 140 pounds Distinguishing Characteristics: Brown hair, blue eyes. Clothing/Jewelry Description: A brown leather jacket, coveralls, blue jeans and Nike tennis shoes. Details of Disappearance Adkins was last seen fishing on the Ohio River in Huntington, Ohio. He was accompanied by his brother, Lonnie Stamper. The men's boat sprang a leak and capsized on the river that day. Stamper was rescued, but Adkins disappeared and has never been heard from again. He is presumed drowned, but his remains have never been found so he is classified as a missing person. Texas authorities are assisting with the investigation into Adkins's disappearance. He resided in West Virginia in 1999. Endangered Missing Adult If you believe you have any information regarding this case that will be helpful in this investigation please contact: Huntington Police Department at (304) 695-4420 Name: Jason Scott Adkins Classification: Endangered Missing Adult Alias / Nickname: Scott Date of Birth: 1975-04-01 Date Missing: 1999-01-17 From City/State: Huntington, WV Missing From (Country): USA Age at Time of Disappearance: 23 Gender: Male Race: White Height: 59 inches Weight: 160 to 170 pounds Hair Color: Brown Eye Color: Blue Identifying Characteristics: Small bump at top of nose, surgical scar from appendectomy, root canals on one or two of his teeth, previously broken leg (possibly right), dimples, could have mustache or goatee. Clothing: Coveralls, blue jeans, brown coat, wading boots, and possibly athletic shoes worn inside the boots. Jewelry: Possibly wearing a silver chain with a "Cross" pendant. The "cross" possibly has "Jesus" on it also. Circumstances of Disappearance: Unknown. Jason, also known as Scott, was last seen fishing with a family member on the Ohio River in Huntington, WV. The boat had engine failure and a barge passing by caused the boat to capsize. The family member was able to get out of the boat and went for help but when returned Jason was nowhere to be found. Moving this to the 1999 subcategory because the date of his disappearance was actually January 18, 1999 and he disappeared from Huntington, Ohio according to Charley Project. (Charley's originally listing had him disappearing from WV in 1998 and NCMA still lists him as missing from WV.
