Karen Denise Steed Missing since November 25, 1997 from Piedmont, Calhoun County, Alabama Classification: Endangered Missing Vital Statistics * Date Of Birth: September 8, 1968 * Age at Time of Disappearance: 29 years old * Height and Weight at Time of Disappearance: 5'7"; 120 lbs. * Distinguishing Characteristics: White female. Blonde hair; blue - green eyes. * Dentals: Available * Other: Mrs. Steed has worked as a Certified Nurses Assistant. Circumstances of Disappearance Steed, the mother of a young daughter, was last seen at her residence in Piedmont, Alabama on November 25, 1997. She was last seen by her husband as she left their home at 09:30. Mr Steed said nothing unusual preceded his wife's disappearance. He just thought she had gone to her sister's house across town, but she didn't come home. Her sister reported her missing three days later. Steeds vehicle, a 1982 beige Ford Fairmont with Alabama license plate 11DW289 was located on I-20 eastbound, about a quarter of a mile west of Heflin, Cleburne County on Thursday, December 18, 1997. The car was locked, and forensics scientists found no clues and no signs of struggle. Steed's case is similar to the August 1990 disappearance of James Patrick Burrows of Piedmont. Burrows, was last seen leaving the Steeds' home on his motorcycle. The motorcycle was found about two years later, in a railroad bed behind a lake near the Steeds' home. Though no one has been arrested in her disappearance, Steed may have gone missing because of what she knew about other missing persons.
