Police are treating the death as a homicide The victim was probably at the location from six months to two years, most likely closer to eighteen months. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vital Statistics Estimated age: 34 - 47 years old Approximate Height and Weight: 5'1" - 5'4" Distinguishing Characteristics: White female. Medium build. Right handed. The victim had given birth at least once. Police found several brown hairs where the skeleton had been found. There was evidence of physical stress causing back pains and discomfort in left knee possible causing a limp. Dentals: She was missing ten teeth, front teeth were missing post mortem. Clothing: Numerous articles of clothing were found at the location; A Yellow/Gold colored T-Shirt with Printing - Kiss My ass, I'm On Vacation Light colored sweatpants of Macgregor brand. Underwear, Size 8, Hanes Her Way brand. One sneaker shoe, boys size 6, British Knights brand. Shirt -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Case History The victim's fully skeletonized remains were discovered on a steep embankment overlooking a water filled strip mine. This area of Sugarloaf Township is wooded and located approximately two miles from the West Hazleton exit, which is exit #14, of Interstate 81. The woman's bones were found in December 1994 during a mine reclamation project when a surveyor noticed a pelvic bone. Death Investigation- Unidentified Female Found Near Strip Mine Investigating Station: Troop N, Hazleton Date of Incident: December 20, 1994 Location of Incident: Sugarloaf Township, Luzerne County near a water filled strip mine. Case Synopsis: On December 20, 1994 the fully skeletonized remains of a white female were discovered on a steep embankment overlooking a water filled strip mine. This area of Sugarloaf Township is wooded and located approximately two miles from Interstate 81. The body appeared to have been nude and clothing was found near the remains. Physical Evidence: The body was at the location from six months to two years, most likely closer to eighteen months. No cause or manner of death has been determined. Pennsylvania State Police Troop N, Hazleton UNIDENTIFIED BODY Incident #: N1-379761 Victim: Jane DOE Date of Incident: 12/20/94 Location: Sugarloaf Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania On 12/20/94 an employee of the Department of Environmental Resources discovered skeletal remains along a wooded embankment at the site of an ongoing mine reclamation project in Sugarloaf Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. This location is in close proximity to Interstate 81 (exit #41). The skeletal remains were recovered with the assistance of Thomas A. J. CRIST M.A. SOPA, Department of Anthropology - Temple University. Thomas CRIST and his associate Arthur WASHBURN analyzed the remains and made the following determinations: · W/F · Age 34 - 47 · Height 5'1" - 5'4" · Right Handed · Missing at least ten teeth prior to death · Gave birth at least once · Physical stress causing back pains and discomfort in left knee possible causing a limp · Bones were clean and dry.
