Porchlight is proud to present what will be a continuing list of family events run by or overseen by your local police force. There will also be listed non-police events to which the objective is child safety. For any additions or changes to this list, please contact James Shaw at blackrider79@hotmail.com: British Columbia June 11, 2006 RCMP hosting "Safe Boating" event on Sunday Location: Grant Narrows Regional Park / Pitt Lake, Coquitlam, British Columbia Attention Boat Owners/Operators: The Coquitlam RCMP are coordinating a public Safe Boating Day to be held at the Grant Narrows Regional Park and on Pitt Lake, Sunday, June 11 from 10AM to 4PM. Come and visit the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary display and learn about safety on the water. Courtesy checks of vessels will be available at the boat launch. The Coquitlam Detachment patrol vessel will also be on hand. Other agencies attending are: Transport Canada (Office of Boating Safety), Fraser River Port Authority vessel "Port Fraser", The Coquitlam Fire and Rescue Swift Water Rescue Team, and other local Search and Rescue teams. Did You Know? The Federal Contraventions Act and Regulations were recently adopted by the British Columbia Government. This legislation allows enforcement officers to issue prescribed penalty tickets for contraventions under the Canada Shipping Act and Regulations as well as other Federal Statutes.
