Summer of Safety Youth Safety Fair

http://www.sacpd.org/SOS.asp

http://www.sacpd.org/sid/SummerOfSafety.pdf

The Sacramento Police Department would like to invite you to their SOS (Summer of Safety) Youth Safety Fair. This is a free event open to all Sacramento residents. There will be several informational booths on hand to provide the community with resources for counseling services, prevention services, after school programs, summer programs, summer camps and other related services available to the youth in Sacramento. Click here to download a flyer.

Each meeting will run from 6 - 9 PM and will also have two 45 minute informational presentations on keeping children safe and out of trouble.

* The May 31st date will focus on Gang Prevention and Recognition. A Sacramento Police Gang Detective will be on hand to provide information on gangs in the area, how to recognize gang activity, and where to go if you feel that your child is involved in a gang. The 2nd presentation of the night will focus on the Internet and children. An SPD Internet specialist will be on hand to show you the predators who are out there surfing the web looking for youth to take advantage of and what you can do to keep your child safe. There will be a live “on-line” demonstration.

* The June 28th date will focus on Water Safety and Summer recreational programs. With the hot Sacramento summers and our local rivers and lakes, water safety is always an issue in Sacramento. The Sacramento Fire Department will be on hand to provide information that will help you make sure that your child stays safe this summer. Sacramento Parks & Recreation will also be here to give you information on all of their summer programs offered to the youth of Sacramento.

* Our July 26th presentations will focus on Megan’s Law. Presenters will be on hand to show you how to find out who the sexual offenders in your area are and how to keep your children away from them. The 2nd presentation will be focused on Child abuse prevention.

There will be time at the end of each presentation to ask questions. There will also be translators at each presentation to help those parents who speak Spanish, Hmong, Mien and Russian.

At the end of each night, a child’s bike and helmet will be raffled.

If you would like more information or would like for your group to have an informational booth at these events, please contact CSO Rayann VonSchoech at 916-433-0342
