OHIO CO., KY (WFIE) -
A group of students are searching for the remains of a woman that went missing in the '90s.

Patricia Calloway has been missing since 1993. An ex-brother-in-law and ex-sister-in-law were both charged with her murder in 2012, but her body was never found.

This week, Kentucky state police are getting some help.

Around 50 forensic science students from Townson University went searching for clues just North of Hartford.

Troopers, deputies, and the students spent the morning searching for the remains of Patricia Calloway on Hoopee Hill Road near the Natcher Parkway. Investigators have dug on the property over the years, but came up empty.

Troopers tell 14 News that the students bring fresh ideas to the case and the search gives them experience.

Patricia Calloway's brother-in-law, Vernon Calloway, was charged in the case and died in hospice care three years ago. A jury found his wife, Debra Calloway, guilty in 2014 of facilitation to commit murder and tampering with evidence. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

"I can say as our agency that there is no such thing as a cold case. What that implies to us is basically a case that went unsolved sits on a shelf," Corey King, Kentucky State Police, said. "With us we review these cases every so often. With us it's every few months.”

Kentucky State Police say the students will be working at the sight on Saturday as well
