BY ROMA KHANNA
Times staff writer

The FBI has joined forces with Laredo police in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of FM-98 disc jockey Rolando "Hot Sauce" Hinojosa, authorities confirmed Thursday.

Police have been investigating the matter as a missing-persons case since Hinojosa's family reported him missing in mid-June. Several officers on the FBI multi-agency task force approached the police department about the case last month, Sgt. Armando Elizondo said.

"We have met with them and shared information, but the case is at a standstill," Elizondo said. "We don't have any new facts."

Police continue to work with other agencies, including the Department of Public Safety and the Department of Corrections, for leads on the case, Elizondo said The FBI confirmed the ongoing joint effort in the case but declined to comment further, Patricia Weber, the agency's local spokeswoman.

His family last saw Hinojosa Sunday, June 17. He is 5 feet-10 inches tall, weighs about 260 pounds and has a muscular build. He has brown hair, hazel eyes and a fair complexion.

He was last seen driving a white over brown Ford Excursion.

Anyone with information on Hinojosa can contact Investigator Edward M. Flores at 795-3147 or Investigator John Adams at 795-2581.
