Tassie's missing 9/08/2008 12:00:00 AM IN AN effort to generate fresh information about long- term missing people, Tasmania Police has released images of what three of them may look like today. They hope the age- enhanced, computer- generated pictures will give a more accurate representation of how these people would have aged. Const Jessica Reidy, of the Tasmania Police Missing Persons Unit, said the public usually held the key to solving long-term missing person cases. She said these three people had been selected in line with National Missing Persons' Week's theme of "youth", as they had all disappeared when they were young. Lucille Butterworth was just 20 years old when last seen on August 25, 1969. "The photo of Lucille that is the most well known to Tasmanians is from the late '60s and has her hair placed up in an elaborate beehive style," Const Reidy said. "This new computer- generated image is of Lucille as a 63-year-old woman. "We hope that seeing this image may encourage someone to supply some information they might have been holding on to for years." Missing Tasmanian Eve Askew was a 15-year-old schoolgirl when she was last seen by her family at Gordon in Tasmania. "Eve's appearance would also have changed considerably in the 17 years since she was reported missing," Const Reidy said. "We hope this computer-enhanced image will give people a clearer indication of Eve as an adult." Craig Taylor was a nine-year-old boy when he last seen at Conningham in Southern Tasmania. Since September 9, 1993, there have been no confirmed sightings of Craig anywhere in Tasmania. "Members of the public still ring up to report seeing Craig, describing him as he was, a nine-year-old boy," Const Reidy said. "He would now be a 25-year-old man." Const Reidy urged members of the public to provide police with any information about missing people they had. She said anyone who had information could call 131444 or give anonymous information to Crime Stoppers on 1800333000. http://nwtasmania.yourguide.com.au/news/lo...ng/1239806.aspx |
