Hey Rudy,

There are definitely some similarities between these two. The estimated year of death could be off a little so that is no big deal…it is what it states an estimate. The UID being knocked kneed was not mentioned in the missing but it is possible that friends of the missing didn’t even know it was a condition but thought it was just a gait. Sometimes you get so uses to how someone walks, looks or talks you forget that it is unique to that individual. I say if your gut says submit it, then submit it. :)

You can call whoever you need to, no rules about calling LE :D

I would call the LE and let them know about your findings and submit your info.

My experience has been that the UID ME/LE's seem to move faster than the MP LE's..that has just been my experience, others may have had it different experience.

If you are uncomfortable calling LE;. I would suggest sending an email to the email link on the UID. It is at the bottom of the 218UMNY’s page.

Just write up a brief letter explaining that you are a volunteer at Porchlight for the missing and unidentified ( I have been writing that until we decide on an official name)

Explain that we try and identify John/Jane Does with missing persons. Then tell them you found a possible match for 218UMNY. I usually include as much info as possible like, links to the cases, case number, cut and paste the pictures....

And that's it. Then you wait and wait….

It doesn’t have to be a thesis just short and to the point…

Here is an example of a letter I sent a while back before Doe, I also included case number links and pictures..

Hi,
I often search Jane/Johns Does as a hobbies ( some people knit I like to
research case files) I ran across this Jane/John Doe case that I found very
interesting b/c it was a brother and sister who would be about my age now. I later
ran across a missing persons report that had some similarities. The dates are
close and the location is not that far fetched... some of the other facts are
sketchy but technology in 1978 is not what it is today. I know you probably
get stuff like this all the time but I decide to send it to you anyway. I
hope it turns out to be a match. If possible I would love to hear if turns out
to be anything.

Good Luck,

Rebecca
