Father Holds Onto Hope As 2-Year Anniversary Of Son's Disappearance Nears
"We never stop missing Martin. We don't know that we've lost him but he's not here and we don't know where he is. So it's a type of grief that you go through everyday," he said.

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. -- John Roberts keeps track of the days since his son, Martin, disappeared.

"It's been 711 days," Roberts explained on Monday.

However, he can't count the number of times he thinks about Martin each and every day.

"We never stop missing Martin. We don't know that we've lost him but he's not here and we don't know where he is. So it's a type of grief that you go through everyday," he said.

Martin was 19 years old when he disappeared from Boone in 2016. The Kernersville native was living in Boone and going to community college.

Law enforcement has spent the last 2 years searching for him. The search has taken them from the beach, to Virginia, even as far away as Ohio.

"At first there were a lot of leads coming in," Roberts said. "Possible sightings and things that had to be followed up on. But as those things get checked off and put to bed, there's unfortunately less things to get your hopes up for."

It's why he's taking a new approach to finding his son.

"We're trying to push the information beyond North Carolina," Roberts said.

The family has shared Martin's story on podcasts and will be the focus of an upcoming episode of "Disappeared" on ID channel.

"We will have a national or international audience with that broadcast," Roberts pointed out.

It's just another way to get the word out about Martin and let him know his family hasn't lost hope.

"We're still here and we still care. We miss him and love him and want him back," Roberts said.

Anyone with information about Martin's disappearance is asked to call Boone Police at 828-258-6900. No tip is too small or insignificant. It could be the key to finding him.
