http://www.desertsun.com/story/news/crime_...hday/543512001/ Coachella Valley couple is still missing and one mother suffered a broken heart on her birthday Colin Atagi, The Desert Sun Published 1:37 p.m. PT Aug. 9, 2017 | Updated 8:34 p.m. PT Aug. 9, 2017 Mayra Torres had a bittersweet birthday last month. Early July 29, she received a text message from the friend of her son, Jonathan Reynoso. It included a video of him singing "Happy Birthday" to that friend, who edited out her own name before forwarding it to Torres. The text arrived early in the morning when Reynoso would've normally messaged his mother for the special occasion. It was a kind gesture that caused Torres to "breakdown." "It broke my heart," said Torres, 54. "He's never missed a birthday." But this year, he did. And the same would happen Aug. 5 when Torres' younger son, Garrett, turned 24. He and his mother celebrated over sushi and they "cried our butts off," she said. Reynoso and his girlfriend, Audrey Moran, were last seen May 10 and Thursday marks the three-month anniversary of the local couple's disappearance. These days, fliers depicting the young couple can be found hanging on walls across the Coachella Valley. Information is being circulated via social media, with strangers across the country offering to share the information. Noting that not everyone uses social media or is even aware of the case, friends and family have begun printing business cards so people can more easily carry and pass on information on the couple. As the weeks passed, little information has been released on the search for the couple. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is overseeing the investigation. This week, department spokesman Armando Munoz said there weren't any updates on the search and investigators weren't available for interviews. Indio police initially participated in the investigation before it was completely handed over to the sheriff's department. Indio Sgt. Dan Marshall had said there were no signs of foul play in the disappearance. Reynoso and Moran are both listed on the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System's database. Todd Matthews, its director of case management and communications, said it's not unusual for investigations to involve people who disappear without a trace. But what most stands out about the local disappearance, he said, is that it involves two people. "It's not something I see every day," Matthews said. A key component in finding missing people is cooperation between investigators and family members, Matthews said. He added that it's beneficial to spread information with social media, but people should stick to sharing the facts instead of making assumptions about what occurred. "We're not asking people to take wild guesses about what happened to them; it's not a game," Matthews said. "That just clutters things up ..... the best thing to do is share without speculation." The pair was last seen when Moran left her sister's Coachella home to pick up Reynoso at an unspecified location after he returned from Brawley. She told her family she was going to take him to his Palm Desert home, but cell phone pings showed she never placed or received phone calls from outside the eastern Coachella Valley, according to Indio police. The last contact anyone had with the couple was May 10, when Moran’s sister received an older selfie of Moran and Reynoso at his Palm Desert home. Moran drove a 2010 GMC Terrain SUV, which police found May 12. It was parked along westbound Interstate 10, west of Oak Valley Parkway in Beaumont. No cell phones were located and there was no suspicious activity when police checked the couple's financial records. Friends and family have been traveling across California and the southwest to pass out fliers and share information. The story of the missing couple still hasn't spread to everyone across the desert, which saddens Torres. "I cannot believe that so many, after 90 days, are not aware of the Coachella Valley couple," she said. |

https://kmir.com/2018/05/10/kmir-news-exclusive-loved-ones-mark-the-somber-anniversary-of-couples-disappearance/ KMIR NEWS EXCLUSIVE: LOVED ONES MARK THE SOMBER ANNIVERSARY OF COUPLE’S DISAPPEARANCE Kitty Alvarado MAY 10, 2018 6:58 PM Time is supposed to heal all wounds, but not when someone you love has been missing for three hundred and 365 days. “We just need you back … everybody loves you so much and misses you so much,” says James Darling, with tears adding, “it’s just hard to wake up sometimes.” Hard because he knows the moment he opens his eyes he’ll be reliving the same nightmare since the day his son Jonathan Darling Reynoso and his girlfriend Audrey Louise Moran vanished on May 10, of last year. “What do you want to believe you want to believe that they’re still okay or do you want to face the fact that something probably happened and we’re just waiting to find out what and it’s a hard thing to replay in your mind every single day,” says Darling. He says he misses the little things most of us take for granted, “For a second it feels like you know he’s still somewhere, where you can just call him and say you know how you doing and you just forget.” According to reports, that day in May, Audrey left her sister’s Coachella home to pick up Jonathan from an outing with friends around 8 p.m., other than a picture sent via text from Audrey’s phone to her mom, the couple was never heard from or seen again. The timeline of events has been contradicted Audrey was spotted on surveillance video at work around that time, no one knows the friends Jonathan was supposed to be with. Days later, Audrey’s car was found abandoned on the side of the 10 Freeway in Beaumont. The Riverside County Sheriff’s investigators have yet to reveal what they know and the circumstances still baffle their loved ones. “What happened? It’s been a year and it’s the same question from a year ago. What happened?,” says Darling adding that his heart hurts more for Jonathan’s brother Garrett and mother Mayra Reynoso, “Garrett misses you so much, he’s taking it so hard and your mother, she’s not holding together too good.” His best friend Arturo ‘Tudy’ Alvarez, one of the last people to see Jonathan, he says the not knowing is the hardest part, “We’re like in limbo as far as just waiting, just hoping something comes up.” They hope someone out there finally comes forward. “Help us just put an end to the worry,” says Darling. Audrey’s mother Maria says they’re still, ‘waiting for God to touch that one individual’s heart that will eventually bring an end to this journey’. Until then Darling says they will keep Jonathan and Audrey in prayer, “The only thing I can wake up to is hope … that they’ll both return home.” The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department sent us this statement: Jonathan and Audrey aren’t forgotten and it’s an investigation we are determined to solve. And we ask the public to provide any helpful information in locating Jonathan and Audrey. There is a $10,000 reward that was set up by the families with community donations, it will go to the person that provides information that leads to Jonathan and Audrey’s whereabouts. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department set up this hotline dedicated to the missing couple: (760) 393-3544, you can call anonymously. |

http://www.kesq.com/news/jonathan-reynoso-s-mother-posts-video-to-her-son-on-1-year-anniversary-of-disappearance/740611136 Jonathan Reynoso's mother posts video-letter to her son on 1-year anniversary of disappearance Reynoso & Moran disappeared on May 10, 2017 By: Lauren Coronado Jesus Reyes Posted: May 10, 2018 05:08 PM PDT Updated: May 10, 2018 10:17 PM PDT Today marks exactly one year since 28-year-old Jonathan Darling Reynoso and 26-year-old Audrey Moran mysteriously disappeared. According to police, Moran was last seen at her sister's house around 8 p.m. Indio police say she left to meet Jonathan at an unknown location between Coachella and Imperial County Jonathan's friends last heard from him at around 9:05 pm that same night in a group chat on Instagram. His last message, now ominous, was "I'm dying right now," in response to memes his friends sent him. On May 11, 2017, the car Audrey was driving with Jonathan was found abandoned on the side of the I-10 in Beaumont, the pair's last trace. "No forced entry on the vehicle, no signs of forced entry in the vehicle, no blood or anything like that," Sgt Dan Marshall of the Indio Police Department said. One year later and still the same questions asked a year ago today "Were they picked up? Were they lifted up? Were they hurt right then and there? No one knows, no one knows," said Mayra Torres, Jonathan's mother, in a video posted today for her son. "So frustrating this way, no answers. I ask myself how did two people disappear?" You can watch Torres' full video below. News Channel 3's I-Team investigator John White continues to look for answers. John goes back to a home in Coachella where a search warrant was served, we have since learned about two more search warrants that could be related. Tune in to Missing: One Year Later tonight at 6 PM on KESQ News Channel 3. |
