http://katu.com/news/local/sheriffs-office...e-circumstances Sheriff's office: Woman missing under strange circumstances, car found in Cottage Grove by Bob Heye, KATU News Monday, August 7th 2017 PORTLAND, Ore. – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help locating a woman who went missing Saturday night under strange circumstances. According to Sgt. David Thompson with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, 23-year-old Demi Helenius attended the Landmark Worldwide Forum at the Embassy Suites Hotel near the Portland airport Saturday night. Thompson said the conference ended at 10 p.m. Helenius lives with her mom, who told officials her daughter is usually good about calling and texting when she leaves somewhere. Melody Helenius says Demi was excited about attending the self-improvement seminar. "Making things better. Volunteering. Being a better person," said Melody Helenius about her daughter's personality. But Demi Helenius did not call Saturday night and never returned home, so the family searched for her car at the hotel. "And her car was not to be found there. So we believe that she was in her car -- by herself or not, we don't know.," said Melody Helenius. Thompson said after some strange circumstances, Helenius’ phone was given to a worker at a Dairy Queen in Creswell, Oregon Saturday night by a man passing through the drive through. Her car was found in the town of Cottage Grove, which is about 10 miles south of Creswell on the I-5 corridor. Helenius did not attend the conference Sunday and has not contacted her family, Thompson said. If you have any helpful information in the case, call the sheriff’s office at 503-846-2500. Below is a statement from Landmark Worldwide Forum: “We have been in communication with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office to give them all the information we have to support them in their efforts to locate Demi. Our thoughts and concerns are with Demi and her family and like her family, we hope she is safe and found quickly.”
