Five days after mysterious departure, no sign of missing Middletown woman

BY CHRISTINE VENDEL

A Middletown woman who disappeared Tuesday after leaving work remained missing Sunday, as friends and relatives become increasingly concerned with each passing day.

Aleksandra A. Reeves, 37, left her longtime job as a business analyst early Tuesday because of increasing stress. She couldn't focus on her job. She had not previously shown signs of mental instability, relatives say, so the sudden departure was uncharacteristic.

She stopped at a Turkey Hill gas station in Elizabethtown to fuel up and was last seen leaving the station about 2:30 p.m., headed east.

About an hour later, she called relatives, sounding panicked and saying she may never see them again.

Reeves did not show up at work Wednesday and her cell phone has remained off. She has not used any credit or debit cards.

Relatives are concerned she may have suffered some type of nervous breakdown.

"We understand she was under a great deal of stress," said her brother-in-law Shane Reeves. "We're very concerned for her health and well-being."

Aleksandra Reeves, who goes by the nickname Ola, worked at the same job for 10 years. Her disappearance stunned her colleagues because of her previous reliability.

Ola is believed to be driving her red two-door Fiat 500 Abarth with a black Pennsylvania D.A.R.E. license plate DA 29K8.

She is 5 feet 5 inches tall, about 115 lbs. with blonde hair, blue eyes, and a heavy Polish accent. She has a tattoo of a spider on her right shoulder.

Anyone with information should call Pennsylvania State Police at 717-671-7500.

Ola's Fiat could travel about 400 miles on a full tank of gas so relatives are focused this weekend on trying to spread the word about her disappearance to as wide an audience as possible. She had some cash available to her so she could have refueled as well.

Relatives have checked hospitals and train stations with no luck. Her car and license plate are distinct so relatives are hoping someone may have crossed paths with her in recent days.

Before leaving, Ola expressed some panic about needing to get away, perhaps back to her native Poland. But she left most of her personal belongings, including her passport at home.

Ola came to the United States about 15 years ago on a work visa and worked at Hersheypark in the security department.

It was there that she met her future husband Michael, who also worked in the security department. The couple wed in 2003 and she has remained ever since in the United States as a legal resident, Michael Reeves said.

Ola was very outgoing socially, and loved the mountains and gardening, her husband said. The couple did not have any children.

Ola's father in Poland hasn't heard from his daughter since Tuesday either, Michael Reeves said.

"Her family is as confused as I am," he said. "We just want to make sure she's safe."

Relatives are working with several missing person organizations to try to spread images of Ola and her car on digital fliers across the country in the hopes she can be located.

Pennsylvania State Police ID body found in Baltimore as missing woman

The Baltimore Sun

Pennsylvania State Police Sunday said the body of a woman found Tuesday in Baltimore was that of a missing 37-year-old Pennsylvania woman.

The woman, Aleksandra "Ola" Reeves of Middletown, Pa., was found at about 11:30 a.m. in a wooded area near Guilford Avenue and East Preston Street in Baltimore.

Police said Reeves was reported missing May 25. She had last been seen leaving a Turkey Hill gas station in Elizabethtown around 2:30 p.m. two days prior.

On a Facebook page devoted to finding Reeves, her husband posted an update Friday.

"For all my friends and everyone whom has spent much time and effort sharing posts and spreading the word to help me find my missing wife....today it is with a weary heart I have to report to you that the search is over," Michael Reeves wrote. "My wife, Aleksandra "Ola" Reeves has been found. A few hours after her car was located in Baltimore MD, her body was recovered a short distance away. At this time I want to thank everyone for their support, encouragement, and understanding as I, family, and friends grieve and mourn the loss of the most amazing woman I have ever had the pleasure to love!"

The investigation is ongoing to determine a cause of death, police said, but spokesman T.J. Smith said there were no outward signs of trauma.

"It'll take the toxicology to determine exact cause and manner, but nothing indicates foul play at this time," Smith said.

Reeves had recently left her job as a business analyst due to stress, PennLive reported, and relatives told the news outlet that her departure was uncharacteristic. About an hour after leaving Elizabethtown, Reeves called relatives to say she may never see them again, according to PennLive.

Reeves' red Fiat was located June 6, a block and a half away from the location of her body, before her she was found, police said.

The Baltimore Police Department is handling the death investigation along with the Baltimore Medical Examiner's Office. The State Police in Harrisburg are assisting with the investigation.

"There are some mental health issues that our investigators were concerned about but right now we're waiting on the cause of death from the medical examiner's office," said Trooper Brent Miller, a spokesman for the Harrisburg State Police.
