Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to a wooded area of Buckhorn Road in Mebane on May 16 after personnel from the state Department of Transportation located human remains. Authorities say evidence led investigators to a missing person report for Stephanie Michele Rogers from Hillsborough Police on May 7, 2015. Through dental records, North Carolina Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Deborah Radisch identified the remains as Rogers, according to a release.
