Police investigate ‘suspicious body’ found in Bedford along Concord River
By Adam Sennott GLOBE CORRESPONDENT MAY 14, 2017

A body found near a boat ramp on the Concord River in Bedford is being investigated as a suspicious death, the Middlesex district attorney’s office said.

Bedford police responded at 11 a.m. to a report that a group of Boy Scouts cleaning trash along the river had “observed something suspicious along the embankment,” prosecutors said in a statement.

“Upon arrival, police located the body,” said the statement issued by Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Bedford Police Chief Robert Bongiorno.

The body, which was found near the Carlisle Street Boat Ramp, was transported to the state medical examiner’s office, the statement said.

The identity of the victim had not been determined on Saturday night.

The investigation is ongoing.

Updated: May 14, 2017 - 11:20 AM

BEDFORD, Mass. - A group of Boy Scouts volunteering to clean up trash along the river in Bedford found a dead body Saturday.

The man, who has not yet been identified, died under suspicious circumstances, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.

Police were called to the river bank shortly after 11 a.m. when the Boy Scouts said they found the man’s body near the Carlisle Street Boat Ramp.

The ramp into the Concord River is located just off Route 225 in Bedford.

Scoutmaster Peter Ricci sent Boston 25 News the following statement:

"The Boy Scout Program focuses on protection of its youth members. We have had multiple contacts in regards to an incident today in Bedford .We appreciate members of the press respecting the privacy of our youth. Scouts from a local Bedford Boy Scout Troop and Cub Scout Pack participated in the annual Beautify Bedford cleanup day today. This annual event helps keep public and conservation areas clean. During this event, a small group of youths along with adult volunteers encountered something that appeared suspicious and out of place. The group appropriately notified the local police department. Any further questions should be directed to the Bedford Police Department."

The body has been taken to the Chief Medical Examiner's Office.
