Car of Missing Palm Valley Woman Found in Lubbock By: Elizabeth Lane Posted: May 08, 2017 10:36 PM CDT Updated: May 09, 2017 06:44 PM CDT LUBBOCK TX - The vehicle of a missing Palm Valley woman was found in the United Supermarket parking lot at 50th Street and Avenue Q in Lubbock on Monday, in what police are referring to as a bizarre case. 66-year-old Alice Johnson Myers was reported missing on Saturday, May 6th at 1:30pm. She is 5 ft. 2 in, 135 lbs. with brown hair and green eyes. Myers was last seen Thursday night. Police said she left town just before midnight, and traveled to Lubbock in a car she purchased earlier that day. "We just found out yesterday evening that she's in the Lubbock area, and we're kind of relieved to hear that because we hadn't heard anything about her since Friday, so we were getting kind of concerned there were no credit card transactions no purchases made on her debit card," Palm Valley Sergeant Cody Hunt said. A man named "Joe" called Boggus Ford in Harlingen, claiming to be a friend of Myers. He gave the location of the vehicle, saying she no longer wanted it. "Initially, we didn't know who had made that call and we were concerned that there was some kind of foul play, because we just had some random male calling down to Boggus Ford and saying that her car would be there," Hunt said. After further investigation, police determined the caller sold Myers a new car over the weekend, and was trying to help her return the old one to a neutral location. In a statement, Hayes Motor Company said, "Myers was referred by a previous customer...we are cooperating with police." Myers' whereabouts remain a mystery, but authorities said they don't believe there has been any foul play involved. If you have any information regarding Myers' whereabouts, you're encouraged to call the Palm Valley Police Department at 956-873-1500 or the Cameron County Sheriff's Office at 956-554-6700.http://www.everythinglubbock.com/news/brea...bbock/709797248 |
