http://www.pennlive.com/news/2017/05/lanca...ody_hikers.html Hikers found human remains in rural Lancaster County, autopsy pending By Steve Marroni on May 08, 2017 at 10:31 AM, updated May 08, 2017 at 10:35 AM The human remains discovered in rural Lancaster County Saturday evening were found by hikers, the Associated Press is reporting. An autopsy is now set, but some are wondering if those remains could be that of a Quarryville man who went missing in October. A spokesman from the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office told the Associated Press it would be "irresponsible" to speculate on the identity of the remains. But a search had been conducted in January for 29-year-old Justin Myers about a half-mile from where those remains were found around 7 p.m. Saturday. Lancaster County Coroner Stephen Diamontoni said the hikers reported finding the remains in Providence Township. Police secured the area Sunday morning and recovered the remains, which the coroner said appear to have been there for an extended time. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call state police at 717-299-7650. |

Body found in Providence Township woods identified as missing Quarryville man JENNIFER TODD | Staff Writer 5 hrs ago (7) Justin Myers PROVIDED PHOTO Justin K. Myers A body discovered Saturday in southern Lancaster County has been identified as that of 29-year-old Justin K. Myers of Quarryville. Myers was last seen in October and was reported missing Jan. 4. His disappearance prompted a search that same month of a property in the 500 block of Lancaster Pike in Providence Township, where police dug up a yard in search of items or information regarding Myers' whereabouts. The remains found by hikers Saturday evening were located about a half-mile from the Lancaster Pike property, west of the 200 block of Mount Airy Road. An autopsy was performed Monday. Lancaster County Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni said Tuesday evening that a presumptive identification was made by a partial tattoo but dental records were needed to confirm. He said the cause and manner of death are pending further testing and investigation. Based on the condition of the remains, Myers had been dead at least two months but likely longer, the coroner said. Myers’ aunt, Jessica Jones, said relatives were notified of Myers’ death late Tuesday afternoon. “For seven months, we waited and wanted him home — I’m glad he’s found,” she said through tears Tuesday night. “There’s a sense of peace that he’s not just out there alone.” Jones said the family believes foul play is involved in the death. “Absolutely 100 percent,” she said. “And the people responsible are going to pay. God will seek out revenge. “He had a hard life and for it to end this way is extremely tragic.” http://lancasteronline.com/news/local/body...360ac839c1.html |
