http://ktla.com/2017/04/25/search-for-miss...king-for-child/ Search for Missing 5-Year-Old Leads Investigators to Lake Cachuma, But Detectives Find No Evidence He Was There: LASD POSTED 10:47 AM, APRIL 25, 2017, BY MELISSA PAMER AND CHIP YOST, UPDATED AT 06:26PM, APRIL 25, 2017 After police dogs, a helicopters and a dive team searched a lake area in Santa Barbara County in an effort to find a 5-year-old San Gabriel Valley boy who went missing, a sheriff's lieutenant on scene Tuesday said investigators have uncovered evidence that the boy's father had been there but the child had not. The search for Aramazd Andressian Jr. led investigators to Lake Cachuma Recreation Area, where authorities learned that the boy’s father went on Friday, April 21, a day before the boy was reported missing and his father was arrested. The father, 35-year-old Aramazd Andressian Sr., meanwhile, was released from custody Tuesday after the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department chose not to pursue charges against him. Andressian Sr. had been held on suspicion of child endangerment and child abduction. On Tuesday, investigators searched the area around the lake “in hopes of locating any witnesses or evidence leading to the whereabouts of the missing child,” stated a Sheriff’s Department news release issued Tuesday morning. Aerial video from Sky5 showed a sheriff's helicopter flying above the lake, with divers and at least one boat in the water near Tequepis Point. At the lake, sheriff's Lt. Joe Mendoza said evidence and surveillance video showed the boy's father had been at Lake Cachuma, but his son had not. The boy remains missing. Mendoza said investigators are still optimistic that the boy will be found. In talking with investigators, Andressian Sr. gave no indication he has hurt his son, Mendoza said. "He gave conflicting statements (and) he could not offer any information to his whereabouts, but nothing to lead us to believe the child has been harmed," Mendoza said. Andressian Sr. has retained a criminal defense attorney, Daniel A. Nardoni of Pasadena, according to a statement from a family law attorney who represents Andressian Sr. "Aramazd, his family and counsel are fully cooperating with the police in their efforts to locate little Ara," said the statement, issued Tuesday afternoon by Lizarraga Law of Ojai. The statement asked for privacy for the family, saying they are "emotionally reeling from the fact they have a missing 5 year old grandson/nephew, as well as a family member in custody." Nardoni later told KTLA his client was released due to lack of evidence. The father and son were seen on video at Disneyland on the night of Thursday, April 20. They left the Anaheim theme park after midnight, a sheriff's official told KTLA Monday. On the morning of Saturday, April 21, Andressian Sr. was found unconscious in Arroyo Park in South Pasadena and was briefly hospitalized. About the same time, the boy's mother reported her son missing when the child and Andressian Sr. did not show up for a planned custody transfer in San Marino. The child’s parents are in the midst of a divorce but share custody of the boy. Lake Cachuma Recreation Area is in the mountains about 15 miles northwest of Santa Barbara. The Sheriff's Department search was wrapping up there Tuesday afternoon. The Sheriff's Department's Homicide Division is working with the South Pasadena Police Department on the investigation. The San Barbara County Sheriff's Office and park rangers helped with the search at Lake Cachuma. |

$10,000 reward offered in search for missing San Gabriel Valley 5-year-old $10K Reward For South Pasadena Boy Missing For 12 Days Investigators say there is no evidence the boy was kidnapped. His dad was found passed out in a park the day he was supposed to return the boy to his mother. Dave Lopez reports. Veronica Rocha Contact Reporter A $10,000 reward has been offered for any information leading to the whereabouts of a 5-year-old boy whose mysterious disappearance triggered searches in at least three different counties. Aramazd Andressian Jr. was reported missing April 22 after his father was found unconscious and alone outside his car in South Pasadena’s Arroyo Park. Authorities scoured the park and surrounding area for the boy but did not find him. In the following week, investigators searched for clues in Orange County, where they believed the boy had gone to Disneyland with his father, Aramazd Andressian Sr. Detectives also explored Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in Santa Barbara County. Authorities suspected the boy’s father visited the lake on April 21. Investigators and scent-detecting dogs then searched Andressian’s home in South Pasadena on Friday. Again, detectives were unable to find any evidence leading them to the boy. http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-l...0503-story.html |

Father of missing 5-year-old California boy Aramazd Andressian Jr. arrested again on suspicion of murder Tweet X BY MINYVONNE BURKE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Saturday, June 24, 2017, 4:21 AM The father of a 5-year-old California boy missing since April has been arrested again, this time on suspicion of murdering his son. Aramazd Andressian Sr. was taken into custody Friday in Las Vegas. He's being held on a $10 million bail, ABC reports. The Los Angeles sheriff's office is said to have worked with authorities in Vegas to make the arrest after investigators provided LA County prosecutors with evidence. What evidence authorities have against the 35-year-old father has not been revealed, but it was enough that prosecutors could order Andressian be taken into custody. It's also not clear why the California native was in Nevada at the time of his arrest. Father of missing California child released from jail A spokeswoman for the sheriff's department said more information on the case would be released during a press conference Monday. UNDATED PHOTO. (AP) Andressian was initially arrested in mid-April on charges of child endangerment and child abduction after he was found unconscious in South Pasadena's Arroyo Park with his son, Aramazd Andressian Jr., nowhere to be found. The boy's father spent only a few days in jail. He was released after investigators decided not to move forward with charges. Authorities have spent the past few months searching for Aramazd. The toddler was last seen April 20 at Disneyland in Anaheim with his father. A few days before the outing, Aramazd spoke with his mother, Ana Estevez, via a Skype video chat. Police were alerted that the toddler was missing when his mom called to report that her estranged husband had failed to drop their son off at a pre-arranged meeting place. (MICHAEL BALSAMO/AP) In addition to trying to locate Aramazd, police are still trying to determine why the boy's father was passed out in the park. Investigators previously noted that there was no evidence that Andressian had been attacked. They also said his statements on what happened to his son were "convoluted and contradictory." Aramazd's mother has released a statement pleading for his safe return. "To my son, this message is for you my love: be brave, honey. I am counting the days until I see you honey and I will never stop looking for you," she said.http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/fath...ticle-1.3274007 |

The remains of Aramazd Andressian Jr. were discovered Friday during the latest of several searches of the area near Lake Cachuma on Friday, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Nicole Nishida said. His identity was confirmed Saturday morning. Detectives had already searched the area several times since Andressian Jr. was reported missing by his mother on April 22 after his father failed to bring him to a scheduled custody exchange amid a divorce, investigators said. Detectives identified “possible areas of interest” and planned to return to continue searching, according to Deputy Sarah Rodriguez of the sheriff’s Information Bureau. RELATED ARTICLES Father of missing South Pasadena boy planned to kill son amid divorce, sheriff’s detective says • Related: South Pasadena man charged with killing son brought back to California “Based on additional leads developed in the Andressian case, homicide detectives returned to the Lake Cachuma area of Santa Barbara County on Friday, June 30, 2017, in an effort to locate additional evidence,” Deputy Grace Medrano of the sheriff’s Information Bureau said in a written statement. They discovered Andressian Jr.’s body. His father, Aramazd Andressian Sr., 35, of South Pasadena, was returned to Los Angeles County from Las Vegas on Friday to face a murder charge. Sheriff’s homicide detectives arrested Andressian Sr. last month in Las Vegas. Nishida declined to discuss exactly where the remains were found. Little additional information was expected to be released by sheriff’s officials as prosecutors from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office prepare for a murder trial. Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner’s officials, who will conduct the autopsy, did not confirm the identity of the victim on Saturday. Sheriff’s investigators had placed a “security hold” on the case, preventing coroner’s officials from discussing it, coroner’s Lt. David Smith said. The father and son were seen together at Disneyland in Anaheim on April 20, Lt. Joe Mendoza of the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau said. At least one witness has reported seeing Andressian Sr. in the area of Lake Cachuma, Solvang and Nojoqui Falls in Santa Barbara County the following day. Andressian Jr.’s mother reported him missing April 22 after the father failed to bring the boy to a scheduled custody exchange, officials said. The couple is in the midst of a divorce. Police in South Pasadena found Andressian Sr. the same day, unconscious near his car at the Arroyo Seco Park. The vehicle had doused in gasoline and there was a rag sticking out of the gas tank. There was no sign of his son. Andressian Sr. told police he had taken prescription pills belonging to someone else and had no idea what had happened to his son, sheriff’s officials said. He was initially arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, but ultimately released without charges three days later. Even before the boy’s body was discovered, prosecutors filed a murder charge against Andressian Sr., who was arrested June 23 in Las Vegas, where he’d spent 47 days as officials, other family members and volunteers continued the search for his missing son in Southern California, sheriff’s officials said. Investigators have also searched sites including Andressian Sr.’s home in South Pasadena, as well as the home of the suspect’s mother in Montebello. • Related Story: Father of missing South Pasadena boy planned to kill son amid divorce, sheriff’s detective says Attorney Ambrosio Rodriguez, who is representing Andressian Sr., issued a statement Saturday afternoon after meeting with is client in jail. “This is a sad and solemn day for the Andressian family, one they all hoped would never come,” he said. “The family mourns the death of Ara, Jr. and are in seclusion grieving. All thoughts and prayers are with the Andressian family and all of Ara, Jr.’s relatives on this sad day.” Rodriguez released another statement on Friday, before the remains had been found, calling the case against Andressian Sr., “a perfect example of mob mentality and rush to judgement by the Sheriff’s Department. The lawyer added that many facts remain unknown, and the allegations are built on “speculation.” Mendoza said officials feared Andressian Sr. may have been preparing to flee the country prior to his arrest, as he had made several efforts to change is appearance, including shaving his beard. The suspect is scheduled to appear for an arraignment Monday in the Alhambra branch of Los Angeles County Superior Court. Until then, he was being held in lieu of $10 million bail, according to county booking records. Staff writer Alex Groves contributed to this report. |
