April 24th, 2017by Staff Report in Breaking NewsRead Time: < 1 min.

The decomposed remains of what authorities believe to be a woman that were found Saturday in a remote area of Walker County, Ga., have been taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's crime lab, Sheriff Steve Wilson said in an email.

Hunters found the body off High Road in Cloudland, Ga. On March 19 a vehicle was found abandoned on private property near where the remains were found.

The manner and cause of death have not been determined, the sheriff said.

The Walker County Sheriff's Office does not have a missing persons case that matches the circumstances, he said.

WALKER COUNTY, GA (WRCB) -
UPDATE: The Walker County Sheriff announced on Monday that they have identified a woman that was found last month on Lookout Mountain.

Officials say the woman is 49-year old Amy Renee Cantrell of Catoosa County. Cantrell's body was found by hunters off High Road, Cloudland, on April 22nd.

Investigators said they believed that the body has been in the woods for about four weeks. She had not been reported missing by law enforcement at the time the body was found.

A vehicle towed from private property in late March was located approximately one mile from where the body was found; the vehicle was registered to Ms. Cantrell.

Officials are still unsure of the cause of death.
