Remains found in case of missing Gwinnett mom

Kristen Reed, WXIA 9:43 AM. EDT April 21, 2017

DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- Authorities have found human remains in their search for a mom who went missing in October 2016.

The GBI announced the discovery happened while their agency, along with the Lumpkin County and Gwinnett County Sheriff's Offices were conducting a search in the Chestatee Wildlife Management area Thursday looking for missing woman Tosha Herron.

Herron's badly-damaged car was found in a wooded area on Hwy 129N in Lumpkin County on October 12, 2016.

Police have not positively identified the remains as Herron but said they found a boot that matched the boot that was found around the time her car was located. The remains were collected by the GBI Crime Scene Specialist and will be transported to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Officer for examination and identification.

She was reported missing after family members said she did not arrive to meet a friend and did not call her children to tell them good night. At the time, family members were not sure if foul play was involved, or if Herron suffered some sort of injury in the accident.

According to her father, Herron takes medication for a condition that can cause seizures. The family isn't sure if that may have been a contributing factor in the crash.http://www.11alive.com/news/remains-found-...t-mom/433068816

DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- The Georgia Bureau of Investigations has confirmed that the human remains they found are the Gwinnett County mom who went missing six months ago.

The GBI announced the discovery happened while their agency, along with the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Department, in coordination with Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Rapid Response Team conducting a large-scale woodlands search of the area, Chestatee Wildlife, where missing woman Tosha Herron's car was located.

Herron's badly damaged car was found days after she went missing, in a wooded area on Highway 129 north in Lumpkin County, Ga., on Oct. 12, 2016.

The GBI Medical Examiner’s preliminary results indicate that the remains are Herron's. The GBI said that foul play is not suspect "at this point."
