Body found along Susquehanna River identified as New York man missing since December JENNIFER TODD | Staff Writer 2 hrs ago (0) Taku Minemura A body found along the Susquehanna River earlier this month in York County has been identified. Officials on Wednesday said the remains discovered in Fairview Township are that of 30-year old Taku Minemura of Mineola, New York. Police and the York County Coroner’s Office were able to make the identification using dental records. Minemura was last seen December 5 in New York and was reported missing after he didn’t show up for work, according to Fairview Township police. Investigators said they have been working closely with the York County Coroner’s Office and Nassau County Police in New York in an effort to identify the remains. Authorities said they delayed releasing Minemura's name until his family in Japan could be notified. Police said Minemura’s employer, Fujitsu, has assisted in the investigation and in notifying the family. Officials said they are continuing to investigate the details of Minemura's death, the cause and manner of which are still pending. The remains were spotted by a boater April 15 just south of the Pennsylvania Turnpike overpass. After an autopsy, authorities said the body had been in the water for a period of time when water levels were significantly higher and had come from an area north of where the remains were found. A few days after the discovery of the body, police released photos of the man's clothing in an effort to identify the remains. http://lancasteronline.com/news/local/body...f241eecff9.html |
