YADKINVILLE, N.C. —UPDATED COVERAGE, 12:32 p.m., April 15: Authorities have identified the man found dead Saturday morning.

Officials say they recovered the body of Jeffrey David Key, 39, of Yadkinville around 10:30 a.m. from Lake Hampton.

According to Sheriff Ricky Oliver, crews were out since 7 a.m. Saturday using sonar equipment to find Key's body.

Oliver says nothing appears to be suspicious.

"It appears to be a young man was fishing by himself and for whatever reason he accidentally fell out of the boat," said Oliver. "We don't have a witness to that, but, there is no signs of any foul play."

UPDATED COVERAGE, 11:31 a.m., April 15: The Yadkin County sheriff said Saturday a body has been recovered from Lake Hampton.

Sheriff Ricky Oliver was unable to provide any more details, including the victim's identity, as authorities are working to notify the victim's family.

Oliver says further updates are expected later in the day on Saturday.

We'll update you as we learn more.

PREVIOUS COVERAGE, April 14: The Yadkin County sheriff is calling the search for a missing boater on Lake Hampton in Yadkinville a recovery effort.

Sheriff Ricky Oliver says authorities were called to the lake at Yadkin Memorial Park around 9:45 a.m. Friday. He says fishermen at the lake reported hearing a call for help and seeing an empty fishing boat in the water.

Yadkin County Emergency Rescue, Lewisville Water Rescue, the West Yadkin Fire Department and the Triad Bloodhounds, among others, assisted with the search.

Oliver says crews located the boat near the lake’s dam, but not the person who had been inside it. Crews combed the lake all day, with divers searching below the surface.

Meantime, authorities have learned the boater’s identity, but are withholding it pending notification of family members. Oliver says he doesn’t suspect foul play or that any alcohol was involved, calling what happened an accident.

Crews suspended their search at nightfall, around 8:30 p.m. Oliver says they’re expected to resume their efforts early Saturday morning.

This is a developing story. Stay with WXII 12 News for details.
