Hugg_cropped.jpg Christopher Hugg, 45, of Tuckerton, has been missing since Thursday. (Photo courtesy of the New Jersey State Police) Christopher Hugg's body was found on Middle Island by the Ocean County Mosquito Control Commission, who contacted the New Jersey State Police, Trooper Alejandro Goez, a State Police spokesman, said. Hugg's cause of death was due to drowning, and his death was ruled an accident, Goez said. Hugg, 45, was reported missing by his family on Jan. 12. Hugg, a clam fisherman, had set out on his 17-foot Bowrider near Hither Channel. Hugg called a family member and said his boat ran aground but that he did not need help. When he failed to return home, the U.S. Coast Guard, State Police and Tuckerton Fire Department began searching for him. The search last for five days until the State Police and Coast Guard suspended it on Jan. 17. "We offer our condolences to the family and friends affected by this tragedy," Capt. Benjamin Cooper, the commander of Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay, said a statement at the time. "Suspending a search is never an easy decision for rescuers." http://www.nj.com/ocean/index.ssf/2017/05/...ntified_as.html |
