The case involving a Santa Clara man, who has been missing since Monday, has led authorities to several suspicious pieces of evidence since the incident was first reported.

David Corey Heisler, 30, was reported missing by his father, Kenneth Heisler, when he realized his son was not at home and his car was also gone. It was David Heisler’s father who found blood stains throughout his kitchen area as well as in the garage.

David Heisler, described as 6-foot-1, 170 pounds with green eyes and dark brown hair, went missing between 3:35 a.m. and around 2:30 p.m. Monday when his father was at work.

Kenneth Heisler said the last time he saw his son was around 9:15 p.m. Sunday when he told him he was going to bed.

David Heisler, an only child, was a permanent resident at his mother and father’s Santa Clara home along with his 6-year-old daughter, whom he has full custody of. His daughter and mother were on vacation when David Heisler went missing.

According to private investigator E. Christian Warmsley, David Heisler had received full custody of the child on June 13.

“It’s highly suspicious that this happens right after the custody ruling in court,” Warmsley said. “It’s an ongoing investigation.”

According to Heisler, when he woke up at 3 a.m. to leave for work on Monday he saw his son’s door closed and heard the fan on, making him believe his son was inside sleeping.

He said his son works at Cliffside Restaurant but was off of work that day. At 3:35 a.m., Heisler left through the kitchen door that led to his wife’s car in the garage. He noted he saw his son’s dark colored 2002 Saturn, Utah license plate number X033S, parked alongside the house.

When Heisler returned home around 2:30 p.m. he said it looked like someone had tracked sand through the house. He ignored this and decided to swim in their pool for about an hour before coming back inside. It was when he was in his bedroom that he realized something was wrong.

“I noticed my wife’s jewelry box was missing and when I went into the bathroom noticed the iPad that we had in the bathroom was missing,” Heisler said. “That’s when I went into my boy’s room and noticed the TV was on and paused on a video game; the fan was on but no David.”

Heisler said he then called his neighbor two houses down to ask if he had seen his son.

It was at this point Heisler called his wife to tell her what had happened; he then called the police.

While waiting for authorities to arrive, Heisler and his neighbor walked through the house and found David Heisler’s wallet still in his dresser.

There was no money even though his son had been paid on Friday and his driver’s license was still inside. All three pairs of his son’s sneakers were still in his room as well.

The two men then went into the garage where they found blood on the floor. They also found blood on the kitchen floor. Blood was also found on one of the kitchen walls.

The two men also noticed the door leading outside in the garage was easy to open and a headboard that had been leaning against it was pushed to the side.

“I knew that someone came in through the house through that side door,” Heisler said. “The reason I know no one came through the front door is because we have a deadbolt and no one has a key for that.”

Heisler added that since he was using his wife’s car, the garage door leading to the house was unlocked, meaning that if anyone made it through the garage’s side door they would have easy access to home's interior.

According to Heisler, his son did leave his home once before for three days to drive a friend. A missing-person report had been filed at the time. However, he added this was before he had his daughter and didn’t believe he would leave without her.

“I know he didn’t leave this house voluntarily,” Heisler said. “I know he was assaulted.”

Authorities are asking anyone with information on David Heisler's or his vehicle's whereabouts to contact the Santa Clara-Ivins Police Department at 435-634-5730.

ST. GEORGE, Utah, Aug. 24, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials have confirmed that human remains found in a remote area of the Arizona Strip are those of Utah resident David Heisler.

Mohave County Sheriff’s officials say the cause of death is undetermined for Heisler, 30, of Santa Clara, but it could be a homicide.

The body was located Aug. 19.

“A body was located by a BLM geologist on the Arizona Strip,” said a statement from Chad Holt, Santa Clara-Ivins Police Department.

“Based on preliminary investigation, law enforcement officials believe that the body is that of David Heisler. The body has been sent to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, for official confirmation of the identity.”

Heisler went missing from his home on June 27. That was two weeks after he was awarded sole custody of the 6-year-old daughter, whose mother — Kelley Perry — is one of three suspects arrested in the case on charges of burglarizing Heisler’s home and kidnapping him.

Prior to Heisler’s disappearance, Perry had gone to social media to share her unhappiness with the custody decision.

Francis Lee McCard, 55, and Perry, 31, were arrested on July 5 in connection with the case. Suspect Tammy R. Freeman, 54, was arrested July 9.

The badly decomposed body was found about four miles from where McCard claimed to have left the victim alive.

McCard reportedly told law officials his intent was to go to Heisler’s home to “scare” him. Police said McCard and Perry both admitted to assaulting Heisler in his home, tying him up and placing a pillow case over his head before forcing him in the back seat of his car.

McCard said he drove Heisler about 40 miles, to a remote area on BLM Road 105 in Arizona, and left him there, alive, standing next to a tree.

Authorities searched the area, and found a pillowcase and zip ties, but did not find Heisler.

The three suspects allegedly went to Mesquite to gamble with money stolen from Heisler’s residence. Based on surveillance recordings, police say Perry and Freeman also helped McCard alter his appearance by shaving his head in the bathroom of the Virgin River Casino.

The case remains active as a joint investigation with the Santa Clara Police Department.
