BARREN COUNTY, Ky. (WBKO)-- UPDATE: 11/23/15

"He had been going to national parks. He regularly goes to national parks,"

Sherry Rascoe Frank said her brother was an avid outdoors-man, and often frequented parks.

"He often came to Mammoth Cave. He's from the area, had lived here his entire life. Often came to Mammoth Cave in the fall," Frank told WBKO.

Frank said everything with her youngest brother was normal, until recent months.

"Up until May, on a regular basis been doing his normal things. Hunting, fishing," she added. She said he would often communicate with and fish with a brother that lived close.

The 44 year-old divorcee cleared his Bowling Green apartment, left his job with the city, and had his mail forwarded to a P.O. box in Bowling Green according to his sister.

She says he did not contact anyone. They filed a missing persons report, and he was found safe in Washington state around June.

They found out he had been traveling and he wanted his privacy. They respected his wishes.

On Thursday Randy Rascoe's car was found in the Mammoth Cave Visitors Center parking lot. They didn't notice it for a few days. Officials say that cars are in and out all the time and there's really no way to track them all.

"There had been a vehicle sitting in the parking lot for quite some time.We think perhaps 2 weeks and just brought it to his attention and that's when the investigation began," said Mammoth Cave National Park Public Information Officer Vickie Carson.

"There's no indication that his car was stolen as far as we know," Frank added.

Rascoe's family believes this disappearance is different than the last one.
.
"No one knows his whereabouts since November 4th," said Frank.

The search crews have their work cut out for them. Mammoth Cave National Park is 53,000 acres, about 80 square miles. That terrain includes miles of cave systems, the Green River, and heavily wooded areas.

"We really, really appreciate everything that Park Services is doing, all of the rangers, everyone who has been out searching in the cold weather. We just want to know he's ok," Frank said.

The search was stalled today. Mammoth Cave requested Civil Air Patrol and said they were following up on some leads based on what was in his car and where he was last seen. They said they don't have any security cameras to show who left the car and when or if Randy was on the property. Foul play is not suspected at this time.

Frank described her bother as just over 6'2", slim build but athletic. He has dark hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone with any knowledge of Randy Rascoe or his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Mammoth Cave National Park Watch phone line at (888) 219-1599, and leave a recorded message.
