http://www.wlos.com/news/features/top-stor...on-218376.shtml Weaverville Family Holds Out Hope For Missing Son Updated: Tue, Oct 13 2015, 08:29 PM | John Le BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. -- A Weaverville family is holding hope that a missing man is safe. It's been 34 days since James Hensley, Jr., also known as JJ, was last seen by his family. "It's hard, to go every day," his dad James Hensley, Sr. says about the uncertainty. "I would just like to know." "I'm holding out hope. I know he's alive," he told us. The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office is investigating the missing persons case. Hensley, Sr. says the 20-year old left this home off Ralph Lunsford Road in the middle of the night on Sept. 9. He told News 13 his son didn't pack a bag or take his wallet. Perhaps more concerning, JJ didn't have his medication for mental health issues. "Depression, bi-polar, he takes quite a few medicines," his father says. "And when he doesn't take his medicines it becomes a day and night issue with him. He becomes a totally different person." He's 5 feet 10 inches, 180 pounds with brown eyes and auburn hair. James, Sr. says his son would not harm others, but does fear he's a danger to himself without his medication. "When he don't have them, he thinks totally different than we do," he says. "It's just different. " Hensley, Jr. hasn't posted on Facebook since the day before he went missing, which really worries his family. "Very emotional, really hard," says his mother, Lee, who lives in Spruce Pine. Lee has put up flyers in Weaverville and Asheville. She admits her relationship with her son isn't great, but the fact that she hasn't seen her son in a year doesn't take away from her concern. "But JJ knows, he knows how I am," she says. "If you have a problem you come to me we'll work it out." After more than a month of wondering about their son's safety, both parents say a simple text message would be the answer to their prayers. "Just text someone and let them know you're alive," Hensley Sr. says. "That's all we worry about right now." If you have any information, contact the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office. |

Our son JJ committed suicide on September 9 2015. This has been a very upsetting time for his family. JJ was 20 years old and had no life insurance. We asking friends and family to come together and gather the money so that JJ's final arrangements can be made. https://www.gofundme.com/6a6vnxcw |
