A candlelight vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday for Joan Rebar, a 70-year-old Mayetta woman who has been missing since Sept. 26.

The vigil will be held at Prairie Peoples Park, 15400 M Road in Mayetta.

Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse is asking property owners near Meriden to check their properties as his office and others continue to search for Rebar.

Rebar was last seen in the early hours of Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Meriden, in Jefferson County.

Rebar, who drives a silver 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, may have been driving from Meriden to the Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation southwest of Mayetta in Jackson County, where she lives, Morse said. She may have crossed northern Shawnee County before entering southern Jackson County, he said.

A Silver Alert issued for Rebar remains in effect.

“Currently there are no persons of interest in her disappearance,” Morse said Tuesday. Authorities haven’t determined whether foul play is suspected.

Rebar is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 230 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair, according to the Silver Alert.

The last ping on Rebar’s cellphone was recorded the afternoon of Sept. 26, Morse said. At that time, her phone may have been within 7 miles of Meriden.

Morse said Rebar wasn’t reported missing until Sept. 30, four days after she was last seen. Morse said Rebar’s family lives elsewhere and didn’t know she was missing. Neighbors grew concerned that they hadn’t seen Rebar and finally notified law enforcement officers.

Anyone who may have information on Rebar’s whereabouts or circumstances leading to her disappearance may call the Potawatomi Tribal Police Department at (786) 966-3024 or the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at (785) 364-2251.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- Concerned family and friends are continuing to search for signs of a missing Mayetta woman.

Joan Rebar, 70, was last seen in Meriden on Sept. 25. The Jackson County Sheriff's Office believes that she may have been driving from Meriden to the Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation.

Rebar is described as a native american woman, 5'6", 230 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair.

She drives a 2005 silver Chrysler Pacifica with Kansas disabled plates 71664.
