The latest search for Crystal Rogers, 35, ended around 9 p.m. Friday night.

Sheriff's deputies, state and local police, and even volunteer firefighters searched a 240-acre farm off Paschal Ballard Lane belonging to the mother of Rogers' boyfriend.

While this investigation continues, WLKY has been told searchers will not be returning to that area Saturday.

Family, meanwhile, have also joined the search.

Along with dozens of volunteers, Sherry Ballard spent Friday searching for her daughter.

The family has been searching for Rogers and answers since Sunday when her car was found miles from her home, abandoned.

As another day has passes, Sherry Ballard comes closer to accepting a cruel reality.

“I want to find her, but at the same time, I’m scared to," Sherry Ballard said.

Using ATV's and horses, family and friends came from as far away as Tennessee and Virginia to find Rogers.

The volunteers, and the possibility of what could be found was overwhelming for Roger’s younger sister, Brooke Ballard.

“To know everybody's here, it fills my heart, knowing everybody's willing to help," she said.

Although law enforcement won't offer many details, they said Friday that they had obtained a search warrant.

For more than eight hours, they combed through woods and creeks on the property until darkness forced them to quit.

It's a relief, of sorts, according to family, that the search has turned up nothing. But it means Tommy Ballard is still without answers and his daughter.

"I'm not going to give up until I find her, bring her home,” he said.

While law enforcement focused on that area Friday, Rogers' family focused on the area between where her car was found abandoned and that farm.

They told WLKY that they'll expand their search Saturday.

Rogers' family, along with friends and area businesses, have collected reward money totaling $71,000 for any information that leads them to her.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Nelson County Sheriff's Office at 502-348-1840

NELSON CO., Ky. (WHAS11) - The LMPD Search and Recovery team was investigating Melody Lake in southern Nelson County on Tuesday, July 28.

When the team stopped searching on Tuesday, they marked the lake with cones and rope for the areas they have already searched.

Neither LMPD nor the Nelson county Sheriff's Office would say what they are searching for, but the family of missing Bardstown mother of five Crystal Rogers was watching the search very closely.

"We are not giving up," Rogers' father Tommy Ballard said, who was at the scene of the search all day.

Rogers has been missing for more than four weeks now. Ballard took a break from his own extensive search for Crystal to watch the LMPD dive team search the waters of Melody Lake. He says he wanted to be nearby if they found anything.

The dive team wrapped up around 4:30 Tuesday. They would not confirm that they would be back Wednesday.

Ballard has been out searching with family, friends and volunteers from all over since Crystal went missing, even bringing in human scent dogs to try to find her. They are still hoping and praying for Crystal's safe return.

"If Crystal is out there and can see us, just we are hunting for you," Ballard said. "We will check out anything we just want to bring Crystal home."

Rogers was last seen on July 3 on her boyfriend's family farm. Her car was found the next day on the Bluegrass Parkway with a flat tire. There was no trace of Rogers.

If you have any information on Crystal's disappearance call the Nelson County Sheriff's Office. Authorities and volunteers have been searching for her since, while Rogers' family has put up a $70,000 reward for information that helps find her.

Officer, brother of missing woman's boyfriend, suspended from Bardstown PD
Posted: Sep 10, 2015 11:22 AM EST
Updated: Sep 17, 2015 11:22 AM EST
By Joey Brown

BARDSTOWN, KY (WAVE) - A Bardstown police officer, who is the brother of a missing woman's boyfriend, has been suspended from the force by Chief Rick McCubbin until further notice, according to a news release from the department.

Officer Nick Houck's brother, Brooks Houck, is the last person known to have seen Brooks' girlfriend Crystal Rogers before she disappeared in early July. He has maintained his innocence.

Chief McCubbin would not confirm if Nick Houck's suspension was related to Rogers' disappearance case. He would not provide further details about the reasons behind the suspension.

Dive crews were spotted in Medley Lake earlier this week.

No suspects have been named in relation to Rogers' disappearance.

According to the Kentucky Standard, family members of Rogers have voiced suspicions that Brooks Houck is somehow tied to Rogers' disappearance. They have also raised questions about Nick Houck.

Several volunteers searching for Rogers along Ky. 49 had reported seeing a Bardstown Police cruiser and a vehicle matching the description of Brooks’ vehicle pass by their field headquarters in the direction of the Houck family farm, the Kentucky Standard reported.

There also were reports that Nick Houck was on administrative leave or suspended, and that his police cruiser had been seized as part of the investigation into Rogers’ disappearance. At the time, McCubbin said those reports were false.

Now comes word that McCubbin has, in fact, placed Nick Houck on suspension.

This story will be updated.
