VERNON, Ala. (WTVA) -- Billie Nalls is desperate for answers.

"We miss our baby, and her children need her. Please, somebody come forward with Keshia to give us some information. We want everybody to pray for us and to pray for the family," said Nalls.

It's been two weeks since Keshia Turner disappeared. Her family is wanting answers. Friends have no idea what's going on. Everyone wants information.

Keshia's friend, Carmen Pinkerton, and Keshia's cousin, Jomanda Turner, have circulated her picture in search of information.

"My worst fear is that she's not gonna come home. People are going to keep their mouth shut and not say what they need to say to bring her home and give the family some kind of closure," said Pinkerton.

Pinkerton says little is known about what led to Keshia's disappearance. She says investigators have told her that a back window to the home was broken and blood was found inside.

The car she was driving was found burned in Lowndes County, which is about a 40-minute drive from Vernon.

"It's questionable on what happened to her because of all the evidence they found here at the house," added Pinkerton.

The evidence has been collected.

Children's toys on the front porch are reminders of the three children who wait for their mother to come home.

All are under the age of 8.

"That's my worst fear that she's not gonna come home and that her kids are gonna have to grow up without her. You can't begin to understand how traumatic that can be for a child," said Pinkerton.

Until they hear something, the pleas for information will continue.

"A very well-rounded human being if you ask me. A great mother. We want her home," added Pinkerton.

"It's hard. We're just praying that she comes home okay so she can come home to my little cousins," said Turner.

Video: $8,000 Reward For Information Leading To Missing Vernon, AL Woman

by Joey Barnes · March 6, 2015

VERNON, Ala. (WCBI) – An $8,000 reward is being offered for information leading law enforcement to a missing Vernon, Alabama woman.

Keshia Turner, 29, was last seen February 19.

Family, friends, and a church are pooling money together for the reward.

Turner told her mother she was leaving to run some errands but never returned to her Old Highway 18 home.

Turner’s Honda Civic was found burned, across the state line, in Lowndes County.

Those close to Turner hope a reward, leading to a conviction, will encourage someone to step forward with information.

“It’s getting harder and harder every day because you know once it gets past a certain point, you know, people usually think there is no hope. So, it’s not easy at all. We’ve just got to keep praying about it, have faith that she is going to come home safely,” said family friend Carmen Pinkerton.

Call Vernon police at 205-695-7022 if you have any information on Turner’s disappearance.

Possible human remains found

Authorities say what may be a human bone was discovered in Steens on Thursday.
Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant told The Dispatch a resident found the bone in the yard of his Fernbank Road home before leaving for work. Authorities from the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department and Merchant arrived at the scene about 9 a.m. and remained throughout the day.

The homeowner, who lives about a mile from the Alabama border, was leaving for work when he saw something suspicious in his yard and believed it might be human remains, Merchant said. The homeowner went back into his home, did an online search and called 911.

Because of the ongoing investigation into the missing person case of Keisha Turner from Vernon, Alabama, authorities from the Vernon Police Department were also at the scene, according to Capt. Ryan Rickert with the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department.

Turner disappeared Feb. 19. She has not been seen since. Her vehicle was discovered abandoned in Lowndes County this year. Brandon DeWayne Sykes, her ex-husband, has been indicted by an Alabama grand jury on capital murder charges in relation to Sykes' disappearance. Sykes is being held in Pickens County Jail.

The bone found in Steen has been flown to Jackson. Medical examiners there will run tests on it, including DNA testing, Rickert said.

The incident remains under investigation.

LOWNDES COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office from Mississippi along with Lamar County, Alabama investigators have found a possible human bone just across the state line in Mississippi.

Lamar County District Attorney Chris McCool tells FOX6 News, the bone was found Thursday morning at a home on Fernbank Road. Search teams spent the better part of the day searching the area. We're told no other bones or clothing were found.

McCool says bone testing will be compared with DNA from Keisha Turner's missing person's case in Vernon along with another disappearance case in Mississippi. Turner went missing in February.

We're told the possible human bone is being taken to a Mississippi crime lab for analysis. Its age, gender hasn't been determined.

Investigators will determine if the search area needs expanding after results from the lab are known.
