Human skull found in neighborhood Greensboro Police Department homicide detectives examine one of two sections of a human skull found by a resident of Park Place Townhomes off Battleground Ave. on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, in Greensboro, N.C. (LYNN HEY/ News & Record) GREENSBORO — Someone lost their head Sunday. Residents of Park Place Townhomes off Battleground Avenue were surprised to find part of a human skull in the street — but police don’t think it stemmed from an actual crime. “We’ve canvassed the area on foot to see if there is any evidence of a crime,” Capt. Jeff Lowdermilk said. “There’s not.” A resident made the discovery as he was leaving his home. After that, word spread fast in this tight-knit subdivision. “I said, ‘That’s a human skull,’” said Jane Clark, president of the homeowners association. “I’m a Halloween queen. I know what real and fake skulls look like.” Her neighbors seemed to agree. They stood around, drank beer and laughed as K-9 units searched nearby Guilford Courthouse National Military Park looking for a body. One was never found. An officer did discover another piece of skull — a lower jaw — near the complex’s entrance, about 50 feet away from where the upper half was spotted. “The way the skull was cut, it was cut so cleanly,” Clark said. There’s nothing like the discovery of a skull to bring a neighborhood together. As police continued to work, residents put forth their theories about the skull’s origins. Police had their own as well. Lowdermilk believes the skull came out of a school’s science lab but plans to send it to the State Bureau of Investigation for further examination. “It’s been a weird Sunday,” Clark said. “I was watching ‘Kill Bill’ when this was going on.” http://www.news-record.com/news/local_news...1a4bcf6878.html |

Ell Only after the last tree has been cut down; Only after the last fish has been caught; Only after the last river has been poisoned; Only then will you realize that money cannot be eaten. | |
