Coroner seeking second forensic inspection of human remains

Missing person reports being evaluated

Coroner Dave Parris said the human remains found in the Van Duzen River on July 12 will undergo a second inspection by a forensic anthropologist in the next 14 days after an initial analysis was done earlier this week.

"The remains are very decomposed, which makes it hard for officials to come to a conclusion about whether the person was male or female," Parris said.

He said officials are looking at all available local missing person reports.

"We'll also look at state resources," Parris said. "We need to know exactly what we're talking about when we go to families and say 'No, this is not your daughter,' or 'No, this is not your son.' It's a difficult task at best, and we need to be sure we have the correct information."

Only after the last tree has been
cut down;
Only after the last fish has been
caught;
Only after the last river has been
poisoned;
Only then will you realize
that money cannot be eaten.
