Supposed human remains found in Salado Creek
By Mark D. Wilson : June 12, 2014

SAN ANTONIO — Police are investigating what appeared to be human remains found near Salado Creek on the Northeast Side.

The remains, which include a skull and bone fragments, were discovered around 10 a.m. by a person walking along the creek in the 1400 Block of Holbrook Avenue, just behind the Eisenhauer Market, according to authorities.

Police arrived at the scene and called in a cadaver dog to assist in the investigation. The remains were transported to the Bexar County Medical Examiners Office, which will work to establish an identity and cause of death.

How long the remains had been near the creek has not yet been determined.

The bones were found less than a mile away from where the body of 29-year-old Russell McKinley was discovered after heavy rains in May.

Police have since made two arrests in connection with his death, and are seeking a third suspect who will face a charge of murder.

When McKinley's body was initially found, police said the area was heavily trafficked by individuals who are homeless.
