Siskiyou County, Calif.
Two bodies were found at opposite ends of Siskiyou County on Wednesday, May 28.

Skeletal remains were found off of Everitt Memorial Highway in the Spring Hill plantation area, and a body was found by rafters in the Klamath River near Coon Creek, according to a press release from the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies received a call around 3:45 p.m. about the remains on Everitt Memorial, which were found near an abandoned vehicle, according to a press release from their office.

The remains showed signs of “possible animal activity,” the release states. No immediate signs of foul play wer apparent at the crime scene.

The identity of the deceased is unknown and an investigation is ongoing to identify the manner and cause of death.

Earlier in the day, at about 2:30 p.m., deputies responded to a report of an unidentified adult male in the Klamath River.

The Sheriff’s Department launched a watercraft to retrieve the body, which did not exhibit any obvious signs of trauma, according to the release. There were no immediate indicators of foul play.

Cause of death and identity of the deceased is pending an autopsy.

“The Department is actively investigating these two deaths,” said Lopey, who encouraged anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s office at 530-841-2900.
