DETROIT (WDIV/CNN) - Police have pulled out more than a dozen vehicles dumped in the main waterway of Detroit. Investigators found at last 17 vehicles in one spot alone. About half were recovered Thursday, and police hope to recover the rest today. Divers must search each vehicle first to make sure there are no bodies inside. It's suspected many of the vehicles were involved in crimes, so police will assign a case to each one http://www.wlox.com/story/25597741/police-...?autostart=true |

Ell Only after the last tree has been cut down; Only after the last fish has been caught; Only after the last river has been poisoned; Only then will you realize that money cannot be eaten. | |

(Note: Bolding by me. Any ideas if there was an MP case related to this search?) http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/05/23...ont-have-gills/ Detroit Police Went ‘Fishing’…but the 17 Things They Caught Don’t Have Gills May. 23, 2014 9:16am Liz Klimas The Detroit River might not bring up the most savory of thoughts when one considers going fishing, but finned creatures weren’t what police were going after this week. If they weren’t reeling in fish, what else would they be bring up from the Motor City’s river? You guessed it, cars. From Monday through Wednesday this week, the Detroit Police Underwater Recovery Team brought up more than a dozen vehicles, according to MLive. “It’s not uncommon for people to dump cars; it’s just a fact of life,” Deputy Chief Steven Dolunt told MLive. “Sometimes they’re empty, sometimes they have evidence, sometimes there’s a body — so far, not this time.” Other reasons include insurance fraud, he added. According to WDIV-TV, 17 vehicles were recovered, but police were really on the hunt for one in particular. The reason was not divulged in the report. Watch the algae-covered cars being brought up in WDIV report: Trained police dive into the river monitoring what’s below every two weeks. |
