Authorities seek to identify skeletal remains discovered in Atlanta's northwestern suburbs
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
April 18, 2014 - 7:01 am EDT

MARIETTA, Georgia — Authorities in suburban Atlanta were working to identify skeletal remains found by a person searching for scrap metal.

Cobb County police Officer Mike Bowman said the remains were found near a subdivision northwest of Atlanta Wednesday night. He said that foul play is not suspected in the death.

Mike Gerhard, operations manager at the Cobb Medical Examiner's office, said the person appears to have been dead for quite some time.

Gerhard told The Marietta Daily Journal (http://bit.ly/1gPigFy) that investigators had not yet determined the person's gender, and that the investigation was just beginning.
