http://www.mcall.com/news/breaking/mc-schu...0,2209752.story Human skeleton found in Schuylkill County; authorities check link to man's 2011 disappearance By Frank Warner, Of The Morning Call 10:21 p.m. EDT, March 28, 2014 State police are investigating whether the skeletal human remains found Thursday in woods north of Pottsville are those of a Schuylkill County man who disappeared three years ago. Two hikers discovered the remains 6:10 p.m. Thursday, about 1.5 miles south of Interstate 81, and 50 yards east of Route 61 in New Castle Township, state police at Frackville said. Police have not yet tested or identified the bones, but they were found not far from where a human tibia, a shin bone, was found Nov. 7, 2011, eight months after Kevin Lucas, 33, of Gordon disappeared. County Coroner David Moylan later determined through DNA testing that the tibia belonged to Lucas, but Moylan and other authorities since then have repeatedly searched for better evidence of how and where Lucas might have died. State Trooper John D. Powis is leading the investigation, assisted by the state police Troop L forensics unit, the county coroner's office, New Castle Township police and the St. Clair Fire Department. |
