Skeletal remains found in Summerville abandoned house
Dave Munday
Posted: Thursday, March 20, 2014 7:29 p.m., Updated: Thursday, March 20, 2014 8:27 p.m.

Skeletal human remains were discovered in an abandoned house in Summerville Thursday afternoon.

The remains were discovered on Parsons Road by Spell's Grocery after a dispatcher got a call shortly after 3 p.m. from a man who takes pictures of abandoned houses, Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet said.

He described the remains as skeletal with mummification and said it appeared the body had been there quite a while.

The clothing indicated it was a man. There was no way to tell immediately if the man died there or was placed there, Nisbet said.

The coroner's office and Dorchester County Sheriff's Office are investigating.
