Skeletal Remains Found In Grand Canyon National Park

Submitted by NPT Staff on February 25, 2014 - 1:39pm

Skeletal remains found in Grand Canyon National Park possibly are those of a man who vanished in the canyon four years ago, according to park officials.

Rangers recently recovered the remains from the Hermit Creek drainage. The Coconino County Medical Examiner has determined they are human remains.

"Found in an area with abandoned camping gear, these remains may be associated with a 2010 disappearance of a male from Tucson, Arizona," a park release said.

DNA testing is being conducted to positively identify the remains. An investigation is being conducted by the National Park Service and the Coconino County Medical Examiner, no additional information is available at this time.
