Knox County Sheriff News
KCSO Cold Case Asking for Help in Missing Persons Cases
Tuesday, 11 February 2014

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying any black females who disappeared in Knoxville or surrounding counties from 1975 until 1984. KCSO’s Cold Case Unit is working a 1984 case where they are looking into statements made by known serial killer, Jerry Marcus, in which he confessed to killing several women in the Knoxville area.

Marcus lived in Knoxville from 1975 until 1984 and attended and played football for Knoxville College from 1975 until 1979. Marcus has already confessed and been indicted for the murder of Francine Davis, who was killed in October 1984 in Knoxville. It is believed that Marcus may have killed at least two others in the Knoxville area. The Cold Case Unit is looking into any unsolved homicides from 1975 until 1984 to see if he may have been involved.

If anyone remembers Jerry Marcus or any of his associates or places he frequented, or knows of any black females who disappeared during this time, they are asked to contact KCSO’s Cold Case Unit at (865) 215-2243.

Marcus is currently in jail in Mississippi on other homicide charges where he has confessed to killing at least seven women throughout Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee from 1970 until 1987.
