http://lancasteronline.com/article/local/7...zabethtown.html Skeletal remains found in Elizabethtown By DAN NEPHIN Staff Writer A hunter found human skeletal remains in a wooded area at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, according to authorities. A hunter found the remains about 10 a.m. Thursday, according to Northwest Regional Police. Lancaster County Coroner Dr. Steve Diamantoni said an autopsy would be conducted Monday to try to determine gender, identification and cause and manner of death. "The remains were skeletal so the decedent had been there for an extended period of time," Diamantoni said. Diamantoni said conditions such as temperature and humidity can effect how long it takes a body to become skeletonized, but estimated the remains had been there "at least weeks." Police said it doesn't appear the person is related to Masonic Village residents or staff. Read more: http://lancasteronline.com/article/local/7...l#ixzz2BD0JpaeV |

http://lancasteronline.com/article/local/8...n-November.html More details released on skeletal remains found in E-town in November Intelligencer Journal Lancaster New Era Updated Jan 07, 2013 11:03 By RYAN ROBINSON Staff Writer Police have released more information about the skeletal remains found in Elizabethtown Nov. 1, but who died continues to be a mystery. The remains are of a white man over 45 years of age -- likely in his 50s -- when he died, Northwest Regional police Det. Kenneth Henry said Monday. He was 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 11 inches tall and had extensive dental work done on his teeth. But the man's most identifying characteristic that police hope will trigger a tip from the public about his identity was the condition of his back. "He had a significant arthritic condition in his back which would have caused him to walk leaning forward," Henry said. "He would have the physical appearance of being bent over and walking with a hunchback. He would not have been able to stand erect." From the deterioration of the man's remains, police believe he died sometime between July 14 and Aug. 9 of last year, Henry said. Police ask anyone who knows a person who may fit that description to call them at 367-8481. Tipsters also may call Lancaster City/County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-322-1913 or anonymously text LANCS plus your message to 847411 (TIP411). A hunter found the skeletal remains in a wooded area on the 1,400-acre Masonic Village property, Henry said. Police have said it doesn't appear he was related to Masonic Village residents or staff. An autopsy and other efforts to identify the man have so far not been successful, Henry said. rrobinson@lnpnews.com Read more: http://lancasteronline.com/article/local/8...l#ixzz2HOjuX9EB |
