Article about the hunt for Lynn Skidmore from Texas but visiting Grandparents in Georgia. Lynn's body was found in Texas. Big Springs Texas Herald June 9, 1977 Footprints may lead to 'missing boy' CLEVELAND, Tenn. (AP) — The FBI crime lab has been asked to compare the footprints of a missing boy from Texas and an unidentified body found last month in an East Tennessee lake. Dist. Atty. Gen. Richard Fisher said he expects to know by Friday morning whether the footprints match. Fisher said he took the footprint of 5-year-old Lynn Skidmore to the Chattanooga Police Department identification section for analysis. "They made a microscopic examination and said they saw no inconsistencies between the two," he said. "But due to the quality of the baby print, we all decided to send them to the FBI crime lab." The Texas boy's father, James Skidmore, was found dead last week in a Harrison, Ark., motel room. His mother is also missing. All three were last seen alive March 29 at the home of James Skidmore's parents in Rossville, Ga. Boone County, Ark., Sheriff Loy Green asked authorities in Tennessee whether their unidentified body might be that of young Skidmore. Fisher had said he was skeptical because dental charts of the missing boy were not similar to those of the victim. Note: On May 5, Lynn's body was found in Parksville Lake in Cleveland, Texas. He'd been there for several weeks. 5 year old Lynn was the victim of a homicide; his body was found wrapped in a plastic bag and weighted with a forty-pound rock. It wasn't identified until June 15. By then, his stepfather had also been found deceased: James was found dead of a drug overdose in a hotel room in Harrison, Arkansas. He had committed suicide. They were unable to find Carole and she has never been heard from again. |
