http://www.wptz.com/r/25942786/detail.html Search For Missing Man Ends Ground Search For Wesley Wamsganz Called Off POSTED: 10:23 pm EST November 28, 2010 UPDATED: 10:50 pm EST November 28, 2010 Lake Placid, N.Y. -- The search for Wesley Wamsganz in the High Peaks Wilderness switched to a limited continuous status on Sunday, said the New York Department of Environmental Conservation. Searches by Forest Rangers, Stowe Mountain Rescue, 17 volunteers from the community and a K9 unit revealed no clues as to Wamsganz's whereabouts on Sunday. The DEC said steep, rough terrain, cold wet weather and 8 inches of fresh snow hampered the search crews' abilities. Wesley A. Wamsganz, 22, was reported missing to the Saranac Lake Police Department on Sunday, Nov. 21, by his family. Wamsganz was last seen Saturday, Nov. 22, at 2 p.m. leaving The Downtown Diner in Lake Placid, where he works. Police said initial information indicated he was heading to Northville Lake Placid Trail or the Adirondack Loj area. Police said witnesses may have seen him Saturday at the Adirondack Loj parking lot. The DEC said Wamsganz's family wanted to thank all the search crews and volunteers for their efforts over the past eight days. Forest Rangers patrolling the High Peaks will continue to look for any signs of Wamsganz, as will the State Police Aviation Unit whenever missions take them into the general area of the search. Also, search and rescue training by agencies and volunteer organizations will be conducted in the area. The Lake Placid Police Department will continue its missing person investigation with assistance from the State Police BCI and DEC Forest Rangers, said a DEC spokesman.

http://www.chron.com/news/article/Half-bro...ead-2136005.php Half-brother of missing Adirondacks man found dead Published 03:00 p.m., Monday, August 22, 2011 SARANAC LAKE, N.Y. (AP) — A father whose son disappeared in the Adirondack High Peaks last winter is mourning the loss of another son who was found hanging in the woods. Ladamir W. Pattison, 32, of Saranac Lake, was found dead Saturday, several days after he told people he was going camping. The coroner ruled the death a suicide. Pattison is the half-brother of 22-year-old Wesley Wamsganz, who disappeared last November. Alan Wamsganz, father of both men, told the Adirondack Daily Enterprise (http://bit.ly/qSuZKn) on Monday that he never spent enough time with Pattison, who he called a good son. Police say Pattison recently said he may try to look for his half-brother. Wamsganz was last seen on Nov. 20, hiking into the High Peaks after working a shift at a Lake Placid diner. |
